Despite me being an absolute sucker for the gal trope, I don’t love this manga — besides for the premise, the story is a bit shallow and stupid with all of its characters.
The characters of this manga serve one purpose: comedy. There’s none of the whole shabang in depth or character development, which you shouldn’t expect from a gal romcom in the first place, due to the emphasis on character comedy. For the sake of comedy, most of the characters are one-dimensional and cliche — in particular, the mc is a bit of a dunce.
The mc has a lot of issues — not
...
only is he easily a self-insert, as in no personality, but he’s not entertaining or likable in the otaku sense of disregard for the fmc. He was molded with this personality, and it probably won’t change for another 20+ chapters, which is something I’m not interested it.
How that I’ve said this, I’m fully expecting for the manga to make me eat my words and have actual progression, but the story just seems too shallow in the sense of development and avoidance of cliches that I can’t tolerate — the comedy is pretty good despite the cliches, though.
You guys know this is just my opinion, right?
