Aside from the good looking characters, it offers nothing.
Thanks to etx752, I learned that this manga is based on a one-shot the author made and it shows. The general gist of the series is a stoic and cool 'lone wolf' who acts the opposite inside whenever she's with the MMC. It takes that idea and rehash it over and over again with barely any character developments. I know that I should've known better from a manga whose tags include "School", "Romance", "Slice of Life", and "Comedy". These kind of manga exist just for you to enjoy the cuteness of the relationship between the FMC and
...
MMC, but I hardly found any of that here.
First of all, the MMC is extremely oblivious to the point where it feels like he's aromantic. Sure, he is kind and caring towards the FMC, but it doesn't feel like there's any spark of romantic feeling coming from the MMC. It's all just the FMC being all shy and embarrassed from any miniscule good deeds coming from the MMC, making the romance feel very 1-sided and weak. Secondly, the dual personality of the FMC makes it feels like she lacks integrity. She acts a certain way when she's with others but immediately changes her thoughts whenever she's with the MMC, which I know is the point of the story, but that and the fact that it happens in almost every chapter makes her character very fake and shallow.
The one thing I can praise this manga for is its character designs. They all look very stylish (the main cast anyway) which is very different from the typical bland looking high schooler in most romcoms, making them feel refreshing to look at.
Note that I only read seriously up until the end of Volume 2 (Chp 24). After that I skimmed a couple of chapters up until the most recent one (Chp 56 at the point of writing), and it looks like the series opts to drop the dual-personality gimmick in favor of a more stereotypical romcom story. Is it a bad thing? Nah. At the end of the day, the point of this kind of genre is to make you feel warm and comfy inside through the cute interactions between the main love interests. However, in my opinion, "Wolf-chan wa Sumashitai" doesn't execute it well enough that it warrants your attention towards its lukewarm story, even by the already low standards of HS romcoms.
