There's not really much to say about this because it didn't go to series and this one-shot isn't so much about characters or a plot. Poppy is an AI created by a hikikomori and he wants to explore the world outside the apartment that they share. So he gets the guy to build him a body and then he goes out, only to find that the world doesn't accept him. Additionally, he's upset because the hikikomori doesn't accept him as who he is and wants to keep upgrading him to be more human. It's the kind of parallel to prejudice that the writer and artist

would explore more later, in "The Promised Neverland", with similarly mixed results. Because the plot was thin, I don't think there was much here for the writer to show off with. The twist, such as it is, is creative, but it's also the kind of twist that doesn't go anywhere within this short story. I'm not sure it would have had legs if this was taken to series, either. The art is quite good, although (having read "The Promised Neverland" and followed them on Twitter even before that) it's clear that they held back at least some. They've definitely drawn much better stuff elsewhere.
Not a horrid waste of time, but it doesn't have any "wow" factor.
