as for why I don't think she deserves top 50 is because, correct me if I'm wrong, but csms popularity spiked due to the anime and she didn't get much development or showtime compared to other characters in the show.

even before the anime, Chainsaw Man was one of the most popular manga on the planet. and the anime didn't cover the crazy shit that Makima does later

seems like you just need to watch more anime. Tohru from Fruits Basket is a very well written protagonist, Dorohedoro, Gintama, Re:Zero and Dungeon Meshi all have well written women, etc. if you've only watched shonen then yeah you won't see too many fleshed out female characters

Also, you've watched AoT. the women in AoT are very well written except for Mikasa, but it's still significantly better than most other shonens

Sasha is ok, but Gabi is the reason I stopped watching the anime. Ymir and Historia were just uninteresting to me. Again, they are okay, but not exceptional at all. I honestly don´t want to be another "shitter" and add to the fire. she is just a kid after all, but she was basically little Eren and I was desperately waiting for Eren to grow up, just to have Gabi thrown on me. I don´t find it morally right to judge her actions, but I would appreciate if she got less screentime :D. I am happy that there are people who like her and support her.

I guess you could say that. It is great to have gay characters properly written out instead of letting fans just have their theories. Like it worked and was really heartbreaking. Annie´s character is actually interesting because I had troubles with hating her. I really thought I should :D but I also felt she was just used for someone else´s agenda and felt so sorry for her.

like I definitely don´t want to badmouth anyone´s fav AOT character because I have read so many people hating on Levi because he is apparently edgy or whatever :D.

Fair enough on the name, just looked funny.

For sure that almost any character just gets popular when an anime gets made, at least on MAL. So it was most likely due to the show, but for me personally she was the most memorable character in the anime. Never knew if I was scared of her or just impressed, the calm cute voice in contrast to het absolutely calculated and brutal methods. Good stuff.
As for her development, strangely I don't think every characters needs it. If you are shown to be interesting as is, but I guess the other characters show way more growth.

Ultimately character popularity is highly dependant on the popularity of the anime they are in, so I wouldn't pay much attention to absolute numbers. I just use it to see which characters are most liked within one show.
