Patriarchy mention in dragon maid and my gf is a gal.  All the brutal amount of censorship in all western Digimon and Yugioh anime.

I've heard of some censorship in some like Digimon, Yugioh and Dragon Ball. Tailoring the shows for a younger audience. But I don't watch many shows aimed at around those demographics. So I never really experience it in any of the shows I've watched.
Sometimes it takes a real man to be best girl. Gilgamesh is also chad.

Something like this would be really hard to pin down because translators tend to translate just the main idea of what is being said than rather the sequence of words used. This is also true when it comes to translating manga and light novels into English. Where I find it funny when I see Fans complain about something not being "true to the source". Specific dialogue when the translations they claim to be referring to are just as loosely translated to begin with as the Dialogue they are originally complaining about. But they don't know any better because they simply don't understand the language to begin with. It comes down to different language conventions where things are conveyed differently in different languages.

From what i know who  doing this is katrina or something like that, usually she just translate the meaning to the point breaking nuance and character personality. Or maybe because i tend to watch anime with japanese culture that make me rarely find this kind of translation, some translator even not reverse jp name to match english name order.

The dub of Yu-Gi-Oh GX was cancelled because executives demanded that 4kids dub 5Ds instead. The dub of 5Ds was later cancelled under similar circunstances.

maybe it because they’re afraid of what 4kids might do to those last seasons.

this wasn't executive meddling. in the case of dragon maid, the patriarchy joke was lucoa complaining she can't dress like a thot. people who complain about this joke are fucking dumb.

4Kids's dubs like YuGiOh, Pokemon, etc weren't really "meddling" either since that was the whole company's goal: to take children's shows from Japan and make them children's shows for America. And it worked. The original Pokemon and YuGiOh dubs were objectively better than their counterparts for the most part.

Digimon actually didn't have much censorship. A toned down death here and there, but iirc it was still a pretty violent show with the plot left intact. There were more jokes inserted.

arguably the only "executive meddling" I can think of would be when YuGiOh renamed that legendary dragon from Osiris to Slifer, after Roger Slifer, a 4kids executive

anyway your post is bad and you should get learned

I think the problem with them is that they were trying to be hip with the youth.

Nah don't even compare the two, I don't remember the line in question, but the my gf is a gal dub is fucking hilarious and easily superior to JP.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

That's completely false.

She's complaining about the demands of a patriarchal society, which would obviously be related to her body/appearance, and that's why she changed clothes. The reason Tooru tells her to give it a week and she'll definitely change back, is in reference to the fact that women in a patriarchal society are judged primarily by their appearance, so she won't be as popular or as well liked without her usual outfit. I'm almost certain that line is supposed to be a dig at the viewer themselves.

Pokémon's tpci English dub replacing most of the soundtrack every episode with boring dub soundtracks because they're too cheap to use them (it gets worse starting with the XY series to the current one).

it's literally the opposite of that lmfao
The original:
"why are you wearing that"
"people were complaining so I toned it down"
"tone down your body too imo"
"huh?"

the dub:
"why are you wearing that?"
"people were complaining so i changed clothes"
"they'll be begging you to change back in a week"
"huh?"

the entire joke, basing off the second line in the dub, is that people were demanding her to put clothes on, so she did. and that those same people will want her to dress thotty again.

i also cannot stress that dragon maid is a boring, unfunny show with a halfassed dub to match. but it's just really funny than anime youtubers have turned this random mumbled throwaway line in a throwaway scene into a culture war issue. without them complaining and highlighting it, no one would've ever noticed or cared about this line. in fact, when the dub came out, the original controversy was that they didn't make kobayashi and the main dragon girl gay enough lmao

I may have read it the other way, but it's no less politically charged and obnoxious. I must have forgot the contradictory nature of said patriarchal demands in how they can be simultaneously "objectifying" to women while also being sex-shaming, my bad. Regardless, the original line largely boils down to a single joke where Tooru implies that Lucoa's body itself is too sexy, let alone the clothes. Compare that to the dubbed version which turns "people complained" into "patriarchal societal demands", which turns into a statement that's (unnecessarily) political/feminist aligned. Then, you have Tooru's joke being changed into something that is no longer criticizing Lucoa's body, it's critical of men/society for enforcing these types of body standards on women.
