I think it makes sense in that he had feelings based on Bertholds lingering feelings from his titan . He talks to her the whole time she’s in crystal and she hears him. And you can see they have feelings in the last episode.

you must be one of those shippers that think the whole point of the ending is "Eremika canon!!!" please read the entire chapter and realize that there was much more to it. The key was Mikasa giving up on her love for the sake of humanity, not "Ymir realized Eremika is canon and decided to erase the paths and titans"

Almost all the pairings( Gabi and Falco is the only one that is acceptable) in AOT are bad since Isayama has admitted he doesn't know how to write romance in an interview, which is crazy considering that Isayama is married and should have a little bit of experience in this subject. I've read fanfictions with way better romance than the canon material. In fact I would prefer if there was no pairing in this series at all. I don't hate romance but it can only work if it is done right just like comedy.

I kind of like Mikasa and Eren, if not for the fact that Mikasa straight up kills Eren, choosing her principles and doing what is right over her own happiness. She did initially come off as a bit too dedicated to Eren more than what is healthy, but I think having a line and standing by it is something you do not see in anime these days. She never stopped loving Eren despite his action, despite having stopped him.

This is actually the moral nuance to what make relationships in the real world work. If you have to do things you know are shitty for someone else, is the relationship really worth keeping? Can you stand by while your love ones do something wrong and be complicit in that carnage?

While Mikasa is not perfect, we should try to be more like Mikasa in this respect.
