the opening posted on the official mappa channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFlDRhvM4L0&ab_channel=MAPPACHANNEL) has 4k as an option which adds more detail to the video. This is strange because i dont recall any other mappa youtube videos, even the csm ones, being in 4k. Does this mean that chainsaw man was made natively in 4k? because if so it looks incredible.

I don’t think it was probably just the opening was upscaled or something

Mappa hasn’t done this with any of their other openings though, and in 4K the textures look more detailed, something that an upscale can’t add

I think that’s more just the quality of the animation then the resolution

I see what you mean but I compared the 1080p video to the 4K video and there is small Colours and textures that literally do not exist in the 1080p, stuff that an upscaler couldn’t just create because there was nothing there to upscale

Even if it wasn't upscaled, Netflix and Production IG made an experimental 4K HDR short in 2020.

Maybe Mappa made a 4K version of the anime exclusively for the inevitable Blu-ray release. No way they'd release it for streaming (yet) considering how much there's to profit selling weebs 4K anime.

Yeah but that’s not a full length TV anime

That’s true, the amount I would pay for a 4K bluray of chainsaw man is absurd
