| You don't build and control towers in Dota and LoL you know, you control a creature with limbs there. Towers in moba games are just there as support feature not the main focus of the moba games themselves. |

| You don't even defend a tower, you defend another structure (nexus). Anyway, with that logic it could just as well be an rpg because you play a character in a role with skills, levels, items etc. If I remember correctly Battlerite is an example of a MOBA that doesn't even have a nexus or tower, it's more like a team deathmatch last man standing (not talking about the battle royale mode). |

Towers in moba games are just there as support feature not the main focus of the moba games themselves. that is just being strict with the genre, DOTA and League can be a reinvention of the tower defense genre, and since the main towers of both sides are the goals of the game its defending that tower so similar enough with the tower defense definition even though the classic take is that towers are use for defense suure~ with that kind of thinking then NBA and FIFA games should also belong to the very same sport just because both use a ball and utilizing several players and the goals of the game are so similar enough, sure :) |

| Tower defense is more about placing units to halt progression than defending. Like Plants vs Zombies is a tower defense game because you are placing units/obstacles to prevent enemy progression. MOBA is just Multiplayer Online Battle Arena cause it's a confined set arena space with an emphasis on some element of combat and the arena is preset. |
