So you are saying every anime except AoT and Hoseki no Kuni all have people doing random with o background and shit when you just challenged someone to find an anime where people just fighting and do random shit? Nice way to shot yourself in the foot I gave them as exceptions for anime that have unique fights which may become unpredictable and in which the enemy not always[or sometimes never] give in abt there powers and goals while fighting. | I recommend you try getting into World Trigger if you want a strategy based fighting shounen. I think it is probably one of the best to do it. The rank wars they do in later half of s1, and all throughout s2-s3 have really well planned out fights. Only issue is the animation and art for season 1 was a huge miss for most people. It gets infinitely better with season 2 though. The whole power system is grounded well around the in world rules they established, so ever fight has to be structured well to work. |

Do they engage in fights towards a strategic objective and does each fight further that goal, is the better question. |

Planning does affect. Of course it will. Did the antagonists not manage to steal all of the fingers from the school with their plan? And if you have read the manga, there are many fights decided by planning and intelligence. |
