I saw some comments mentioning some Umineko names and such, how are the two series related? All I know is that the two series is made by the same developers

Well, there are some references and kinda "hints" in Umineko, as well as Bernkastel(who is a manifestation of Rika's despair) also there's Amakusa and Okonogi who are present in both works. But Ryukishi never confirmed they're linked, neither denied it. So it's still in "decide for yourself" zone.
Botha happening in one universe though, if I'm not mistaken
And obviously both written by Ryukishi, as well as both being parts of WTS franchise along with Ciconia

As users above said, many people say Umi are connected with Higu because of certain characters who appear in both works such as Amakusa, Okonogi, a certain blue-haired girl, and someone who appeared in Gou/Sotsu.
Though, personally i don't think Umineko Okonogi and Higurashi Okonogi are same person. How do i say it, both are...so diferent.

If you'd like to check out Umineko, read the visual novel, Or at least the manga adaptation. The anime is shit and didn't fully adapt the series.

Ill add on to what others have said,

Funnily enough Higurashi no naku koro ni exists as a show / book in Umineko's world.

Battler at one point calls it his favourite mystery story, and Maria watches the anime on tv.

Higurashis events do not literally take place in Uminekos world and Hinamaizawa does not even exist in it. In the same way Rokkenjima probably does not exist within Higurashi's world.

They are different gameboards, and only voyager witches are capable of travelling from one gb to another. If Beato/Battler really shows up in Mei, then she would have become a voyager witch, or be brought in by a voyager like Lambda. Of course Mei isnt cannon. So it doesnt matter.

Uminekos magic system is also exclusive to her Gameboard. Red, Blue and Gold truths have no effect outside it since its a part of the 'Magic System' that Yasu proposes to Lambda.

For what its worth. Battler talks about it directly in the VN.
Calling it just a reference is an understatment, because its not limited to a one off scene.

Bern and Lambda also reference it, with Lambda asking Bern not to spoil the ending because she hasnt experienced it yet, and Bern using Mii Nipah~ to get Battler to fight again.

So the references are not limited to Battler and Maria. Although the two of them only know it as a book / Anime.

So far, not by much. Like mentioned above, there's no direct connection beside of the fact that Rika more or less is Bernkastel in Umineko. (And Takano [current theory suggests mostly Satoko] is Lambda).

Of course, there's atleast (currently) 11+ characters sharing the Seiyuu between them, but that's probably not what you're asking.
