Dragons have a lifespan many times longer than humans, I wonder if the point will come that the story will end with the death of Kobayashi and the others and Tooru and his friends having to move on with their journey . It will be a sad ending 😢, this was already covered in the first season.

There is an unconfirmed rumour, that author planned something like that.
Even Tohru's father told Kobayashi to "Take care of Tohru while her lifespan allows", so author is obviously setting up for that.

the possibility exists but the manga seems to have a good way to go until its end.

Don't think the story will cover the death of Kobayashi, Saikawa and/or other humans in general. It certainly makes us aware that the sad ending is inevitable for the dragons eventually, but something tells me the author will end things on a warm, happy, wholesome note - rather than a grim, depressing note with Tooru/other dragons grieving near a tombstone.

Heck, maybe Kobayashi will eventually give in and marry Tooru and they'll end the story with "until death do us part" vow in a church or something.

If not, then we'll get a family photo of all dragons and humans smiling in a picture, with a narration full of positivity in the background.

Well, that's how I envision it.

over the course of the story I've added someone on the altar with Tooru but it's in the manga, so what matters is that it has a third season 😅.

the dialogue between Saikawa and Kanna in the final episode made that clearer. Kanna to Saikawa: "Live long".

the possibility exists but whether Maid Dragon will have a sad or bittersweet ending just in the future to tell us.
