| Popularity does not nessarily equate to it being good. Popularity on MAL just means how many people have it on there list, it doesn't account for their score. It also makes sense as Bleach is one of the most widely known and bought mangas. People didn't like parts of the bleach manga, you enjoying it and thinking it deserves a higher score doesn't nessarily reflect the opinions of others. 7.69 is actually not that low of a score in my opinion. A score of 5-6 is quite prevalant if you look around on MAL. So 7 is above average. You mentioned that people are starting to like bleach again because the anime is coming back to adapt the arcs it couldn't. Well that's just hype isn't it? Bleach manga readers have already finished those arcs and the score is a reflection of what they thought of Bleach overall, which contains those arcs. Haven't read all bleach yet, so I can't make a judgement of how good/bad it is. But based on what I've heard, it just gets worse after the soul society arc. I'm really liking it atm though. Not sure I agree with your rating though. |
| People can't stand the thought of falling in love with something basic. They feel that liking something simple and fun somehow erodes their dignity or esteem or some shit. Also, the hive mind of the community is another major factor that influences the score, some people fear the scrutiny of the community if they were to highly rate something as "basic" as Bleach. For me, personally, Bleach is a near10 manga, much better than the likes of Berserk, Vagabond, and the other such community-loved "masterpieces" but people in this community would look at me like I am some kind of a retard if I were to say it openly. Yeah, whatever. |

| The last arcs were really bad in my opinion, the score propably also reflects that. But it's not that bad of a score, I think it's accurate. I'm curious what people will think of Bleach after the anime is finished...perhaps they won't like it quite as much as they hyped it up. |

Again like I said, it was a popular trend to say “bleach falls off after soul society”, but anyone who read the manga, even if they rate soul society as their favourite arc in bleach, will say that the arcs after actually don’t fall off. About the score rating. It even happened recently, where fmab fans review bombed series such as fruba and Gintama the final. These are fans, who rate series low in order for their series to be higher. It happens all the times and it’s happened to many series and I think it needs to stop. The only reason I mentioned bleach was because it was one of many that a lot of people and I think that don’t deserve that rating. I get what’s done is done but it shouldn’t be a community where people try the hardest to get their animanga to rate the highest but instead to see, what anime has the whole fandom buzzing to be rated so high and what anime we should stay clear of Agreed, It's saddening to see that people just dislike a certain anime simply because it overtook their favourite anime score wise. Unfortunately we can't do much about it and I doubt any of them would change if we asked them too. Scores don't concern me that much anyway but I can definitely see why some people would get annoyed. |
| If anything in particular, the TYBW arc really ruined it, imho. Really rough choice of pacing and loads of added powerscaling BS to where even the more pathos-oriented aspects weren’t nearly enough. Otherwise it wouldn’t be that low compared to other popular shounen series. It’s not even about it being “typical” or “basic” at all, there were too many inherent issues it simply had. |
