Hey guys, so when I started this series a few days ago I searched online for the best watch order and there were 2 "factions": Release order; or Chronological order (Steins gate ep 1-22 --> Steins gate: Missing Link ep 23beta --> Steins gate 0 --> Steins gate ep 23-24) Well, I just finished Episode 22 of Steins gate and I just wanted to ask y'all what you thought (without spoiling anything). Is there a correct way? Does one order get a greater emotional response from you to the ending or are the two ways the same. Seen a lot of debate online between the two ways, some people saying release order, some people saying chronological, I just wanted to get the best experience possible out of this show cuz I really like it so far! Thanks in advance! El Psy Congroo |

In order tf? Why on earth would you watch an entire show before the last two episodes? Also, just skip Zero- massive waste of time |

Has a lot different vibe, atmosphere, but it actually fulfills the whole story. Anyway, there's a safe way to not ruin the experience, if he could possibly dislike 0. He could just watch the original fully 1-24. And then rewatch it in the Chronological Order (1-22> SG0 > 23-24) and eventually end on the Movie. If he dislikes Zero, then he can just forget it, as it was an addition to the OG. But if he watched all of it together at first, i believe it'd be a different feeling. |

Just go with the release order man, forget about the chronological order, Steins;Gate was never meant to be watched in chronological order and shoehorning a mediocre midquel (Steins;Gate 0) before finishing Steins;Gate is simply bad. The majority of the Steins;Gate community will agree that the chronological order is bad so don't do it, just go with the release order which is: Steins;Gate 01-24 > Steins;Gate Ova 25 > Steins;Gate Movie > Steins;Gate Ova 23beta > Steins;Gate 0 If possible, just forget about Steins;Gate 0, it's bad but if you want to watch it then do it with your expectations low, there's a lot of fuckups in that one which made that anime dumb as fuck IMHO. |

When I was watching it I had no idea about this order and about the missing link episode. So when I found out about it, I really thought I would've enjoyed the series more if I'd watched like this. Also watch the movie whenever you complete these two seasons! It's also really good and since you're following this order, just watch it after completing the whole series. |

I personally loved SG0 and you can see on my profile I even put it in my favourites . there isn’t a set way in how you watch it . also there is a film” de ja vu” which I really enjoyed is what you should watch after finishing it all. I watched SG-> SG0-> SG De ja vu. However if you do watch SG0 you will have a completely unique experience as most people who’ve watched it watched it in the same order I did. And most people just watched SG and don’t watch the others mainly as they wouldn’t want to go out of their way for “extra content” but SG0 is a really emotional and amazing story told in a unique way and if your willing to go that order than go for it.Personally I wish I did as I feel that it is a completely different way to watch it. |

The order Im suggesting is, after ep 22 of steins gate watch: 1) 23b 2) steins gate 0 3) steins gate 0 special 4) steins gate eps 23-24 5) steins gate ep 25 (poriomania) 6) steins gate movie That's the order I recommend the most because I loved the show even more when I watched it like this :) |

Hey thanks so much for letting me know! Honestly, I don't know which way is more emotional or better I just saw a post on Quora that said this was the chronological order and that it was better than the release order. But yeah, I've been putting off this classic for a while and thought id catch up on it and so far I really really like the show so that's why I really want to get to the bottom of which way is the best way of experiencing the show! |

Lol yeah I get what you mean but a lot of people are saying the chrono way is best and a lot of people such as you recommend the regular release order. But im sure about one thing. No matter how you are going to watch this anime, it will remain a masterpiece whatever way you choose. It's an unique series that can give you an awesome experience in chronological or release order. |

So you will watch the chronological order just because 3 or 4 people recommended it here out of DOZENS out there? it's a fact that the Steins;Gate community considers the chronological order bad, just go to Reddit and ask the question there and you will get your answer, of lot of normies of Steins;Gate hangs around there and you will see that 85% of them will recommend the release order. Personally I don't recommend the chronological order either, it's bad, not to mention the director changed so Steins;Gate 0 doesn't feel like Steins;Gate in the slightest, it feels way different and more generic (in a bad way) and Steins;Gate 0 is a lot slower as well so with the chronological order you are basically stopping the climax to start with a new "slower" anime from the beginning which is bad. Go with the release order. |

Go with the release order. First of all man, calm down. Second, I'm not asking anything on the reddit because I don't want to get spoiled or even having to risk the possibility! I really like this show... Third, I realize there are a lot of people who recommend going with the release order but just as many people recommend the chronological order (ie. people from this forum post that I made and many other forums like Anime Stackexchange, Quora, and even other blogs and articles). I have not seen a clear winner on either way, that is the whole reason I'm in this dilemma and not sure which way to go. Fourth, from what I'm reading, a lot of you that are recommending the release order over the chrono order seem to have something in common, that is you guys dislike the 0 series for some reason. Now, I won't shoot myself in the foot and say you're wrong and that the 0 series is some incredible masterpiece because I haven't watched it yet... Heck, I might even come to dislike it myself. But. As of now, the series has an 8.51 rating on MAL. That's not a low score by any means; I mean that's in the top 100 shows. At the very least, I'd like to think there's a reason for that. Fifth, it was just a reply to Ollive... I didn't pick a side or anything yet But thanks for the suggestion man! Frankly, idk which way is better, I just want to experience the show in a way that's most emotional, lol. I like drama shows man, I like those real tear-jerker waterwork shows! Anyways, sry I'm not here to argue, just wanted to see what everyone had to say before I make my decision |

I'll be honest, I didn't like Steins;Gate 0 either, my expectations was extremely high on that anime (because I also loved Steins;Gate) but Steins;Gate 0 felt flat, it was a downgrade in every aspect and has a lot of crappy things I've never expected to see from Steins;Gate, to me Steins;Gate 0 felt like a childish anime while Steins;Gate was more mature. Another thing you need to keep in mind on why I didn't like it is because the anime of Steins;Gate 0 is not even an adaptation, it's more like an "expansion" of the VN and it expects you to know some things from the VN and the anime even brings stuff up and then toss them aside like it was irrelevant when it was actually relevant in the VN so the anime felt kind of "incomplete" in my opinion. The anime of Steins;Gate 0 simply brings a lot of plot points from the VN to mash them together into a single story and that simply didn't work out, the pacing was horrendous and it was SLOW. I can say a lot on the things that went wrong in it. But since you want opinions on the best watching order I can only say to go to Reddit to get your answer because that place has more Steins;Gate fanboys than places like Stackexchange, Quora, MAL, etc... and plenty of those fanboys do like Steins;Gate 0, I simply didn't but plenty of them did like it and they still recommend the release order. |

SG>SG OVA>SG Movie>SG 23B>SG0 This would be the best watch order imo. Also, even if you wish to watch it chronologically, do not stop midway at ep 22 when watching sg. Finish the entirety of the Original SG before anything else. If you happen to dislike SG0 like myself, then it would genuinely ruin the experience and impact of the last 2 ep of SG. |

It will ruin the momentum that you have. 0 is good, but should be watched after. Not even the Visual Novels are recommended in that way. I'm really dumbfounded when I see people prefering a chronological order when it is not meant to be that way, just like in the Monogatari series. There are just some anime that should not be watched in the "true" chronological order because you're not supposed to. |

Release order, always. Don't listen to the wrongsiders here. The biggest SciADV fanbase on the net, r/steinsgate also suggests the release order in their pinned post. Don't go with the suicide order, which is not even a "chronological order" actually. I've seen many people watching the show in tgat order misunderstanding too much things. Also, why on earth you would stop a series in the middle of its climax, just to start another series with an entirely different vibe? 0 is a spin-off, and it meant to be experienced after Steins;Gate. |

It's not an actual chronological order. Just finish the last 2 episodes of S;G, then watch 23B & then 0. You can rewatch the last 2 episodes after completing 0, then go for the ova & the movie. I don't know why a 'chronological' order is so popular. It will be very confusing if you watch it for the first time. |

Also it's a BAD watching order No you are wrong,,, it is chronological order... It's not "chronological" Steins;Gate 0 actually takes place before Steins;Gate, in terms of worldline iteration chronology. Made SG 24/25 incredible enjoyable. |

The order that I'd recommend to watch the series in would be to first start with the first 24 episodes, then the episode 25 ova, the movie, the alternative ending known as 23b then finally Steins;Gate 0. El. Psy. Congroo. |

william_aspen said: Hey guys, so when I started this series a few days ago I searched online for the best watch order and there were 2 "factions": Release order; or Chronological order (Steins gate ep 1-22 --> Steins gate: Missing Link ep 23beta --> Steins gate 0 --> Steins gate ep 23-24) Well, I just finished Episode 22 of Steins gate and I just wanted to ask y'all what you thought (without spoiling anything). El Psy Congroo Chronological is never the answer, least of all in a time travel show. Release order is a much better way to go through the series. |
Well I for one already loved Lain. |
