It really put me off. Its also the fact that he's a borderline casual now similar to the trash taste crew that doesn't watch any shows weekly even tho that's a better use of your time if you don't have to binge shows. I watch 12 shows every season meaning I watch 4 1/2 to 5 hours of anime every week which isn't much but adds up over the 3 months that shows usually run. I'd watch glass reflection, mothers basement or chibi reviews that actually watch anime on the daily rather then covering youtube drama and other shit I could care less about. Everyone starts watching tons of shows in the first years, eventually you dial back and only start watching the best or what looks interesting and different. I can relate to the guys from trash taste because it's the exact same trajectory I had, down to the years it happened. Also, Vtubbers, especially Hololive for us westerners, is genuinely more interesting than watching anime at moment. |

Not all Anitubers, I actually like Gigguk (Some of his videos) and AnimeMan (Some of his videos), those 2 are the ones I occasionally watch, Anitubers like Digi, Mother's Basement and Nux suck ass, and that's why people don't like them. |

More when he was winning that funimation took out his favorite show of Interspecies Reviewers from the platform and then somehow making it number 1 on MAL would solve the problem when the 2 websites don't have any relationship at all. |

And I respectfully disagree with you. Im watching anime on the daily but I'm not really into (or even understand) the Vtuber scene, waifu culture, cosplaying etc. I'm basic but passionate and just watch the shows. I don't even have any merch but even if I did it wouldn't be more then clothing (ex figurines scrolls etc.) People don't get Vtubers, until they do. It's known as a rabbit hole for a reason, once you fall into it, you ain't getting out, rather the opposite, you actually start digging it further. For the first 3~4 years I'd watch a good 10+ shows per season, plus non-seasonals. Now I average what, a show per month and 3~4 on the month the season ends? Can confidently say I've watched more Hololive this year alone than I've watched anime the entire 2020. The first season this year is pretty insane been a while since I've watched so many shows. You get to a point you're so into the anime community in general you barely need to watch anything to be part of the conversation. |

Or option two, which is to praise it into high heaven going on how it's a masterpiece and nothing will ever remain the same after it. Doesn't matter if that's your actual opinion or not. This is almost guaranteed to get clicks. Because these AniTubers know that people tend to watch them for one of two simple reasons. One is that they want to confirm their own view. If they love a show, they need to hear a popular AniTuber say it so that they can feel good about themselves that they like that show. Or two, they see an outrageous clickbait title that they just have to watch in order to hate on it. Like if they saw "AoT is the worst anime of the decade, and here's why...". |
