Flying slash attack are very popular in anime and manga where there are swords. Examples include Ichigo's Getsuga Tenshou, Zoro's various flying slashes, Inuyasha's Windscar, and more. Does anyone know what series was the first to have that particular type of attack in their anime/manga?

if you read peter pan, it's actually originally from peter pan. peter pan uses it when he fights captain hook for the second time. peter pan actually has a lot of influence on early anime because tezuka liked peter pan so thats why its in anime

Peter Pan could not read anyway ;)

Tezuka was influenced by Disney and even had correspondence with Carl Barks, so movie also played a role.

I believe the "flying slash" as you call it is based on "Kamaitachi"

Ushio and Tora OVA had an episode devoted to it too.
