Title says it all.

Don't have much time for video games nowadays. But I remember watching Persona 4 after playing P4G

And I was bored out my mind.

Why not? The anime didn't say it's required to play the game before watching the anime. And anime is for everyone, not only for those who knew the source material, etc, etc.

You should if you can, but you won't like it.

Seems you're implying it's a requirement. Although your whole statement didn't make sense at all.

Of course it is requirement if someone has the option.

Don't make me start about what is making sense and what not.

So you're saying in order to watch an anime adaptation of a certain source material, it's a requirement to have a knowledge about the source? Isn't that a definition of a failure anime that can't act as a stand-alone? Given that it's 2-cour, it should be able to do its job.

And from what I mean on your statement as a whole didn't make sense, you said it's a requirement however he won't be able to like the anime. So you're saying he should have knowledge about the source but at the same time he mustn't because he won't be able to like the anime adaptation.

The OP was asking if he should just watch the anime because he has no time to play the game, so here it is ... OP has only two options play/watch ... he don't want to play, so the only thing remaining for him is to watch anime, hence he should watch it.

Done.

What are you even trying to do here ?

So why did you say he won't be able to like it? Feels like you didn't support your very first statement and you've completely changed your answer for OP.

I felt kinda the same about watching P4 after actually playing the game. Not "out of my mind"-level, but the boredom was there.

The anime for P5 seems to follow the game quite nicely again and I could see it getting boring if you actually played the game. But in your case (and mine as well, seeing that I didn't play more than an hour, roughly) I see no reason to not watch the show.

Even if you plan to play P5 later, the chances of the anime being as in-depth as the game are slim. Your experience with the game won't be as great as if you knew nothing, but it's a good addition.

I mean I actually got into the Persona series after watching the P4 & golden anime. Watching P5 after playing the game, I was being picky on the minor changes so my enjoyment level was kinda low. (Especially the P3 movies, first Persona game I played).

But just know that you'll miss out on experiencing whole pleasure and enjoyment if you don't play the game(s).

The game will always be the better experience, this is more of a fun little summary adaptation for those who beat the game. The Persona 5 anime will leave out a lot of content since they are restricted to 24 episodes. There are some weird pacing issues since the game is extremely long and they have to condense all that into a 24 episode anime. The same happened for the Persona 4 animation. If you have the option, make it a priority to play the game first, it is amazing.
