Use this post to nominate 1 anime song. Read the rules over on the main page and don't forget to upload your track someplace.

All nominations will be closed after 10 tracks are nominated or until next Saturday rolls around. After that, we'll proceed to a voting phase. Feel free to discuss your nomination or other people's picks in this thread.

Theme: "Lost"
Sometimes, being lost signals at some sort of uncertainty. For diligent planners, such a state of being can bring about great stress because it means that for all their planning, their inability to overcome unforeseen forces demonstrated that they did not fully grasp the route and ended up being elsewhere, far from their final destination.

But to others, being lost represents an opportunity to explore a new world and by taking the path less traveled, find a sight that's stunning or awe-inspiring. As such, becoming lost is just another means of finding adventure, and there's certainly excitement to be had by losing oneself and taking that scenic detour as you stop, smell the roses, and see where that takes you.

Song Title: Shoujo no Ori
Anime Title: Kanon
Composer/Artist: Key
Link: http://www.mediafire.com/?tt3kjwmtzvt

I'm not quite sure what a song/piece that conveys the feeling of being "lost" is supposed to sound like but I think this song sorta does so =X. In Kanon 2006, this plays when Mai goes crazy after Sayuri was hurt and, for me, that strength of that scene made me associate this song to Mai's frustration, a frustration due to her failure at protecting Sayuri and not knowing what to do. I chose the Kanon AIR piano arrangement version because it's less repetitive and a little more emotive =) enjoy!

Song Title: Shinmiri
Anime Title: Hidamari Sketch x365
Composer: Tomoki Kikuya
Link: http://lelangir.dotq.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/hidamari-sketch-x365-shinmiri.mp3

For me, I interpreted "lost" not as a lost romance, nor a kind of intransient, without-a-destiny-emo-fest (i.e. KGNE), but as a placid, summer, warm breezy, take-it-easy road trip, or something. So it's not so much "lost" as it is "lost!" It really reminds me of Miyako, especially when she's sitting on the roof on that one episode and is totally out of it, just chilling. With a cat.

Song Title: Search for the Girl
Anime Title: Pokemon Heroes Soundtrack
Composer: Shinji Miyazaki

Taken by itself, it starts off being a song where being lost is an exciting and interesting adventure with the playful and (relatively) foreign feeling, then turns to something worrisome after a while as the strings take the song into more serious territory. Taken in context of the movie, it's Satoshi/Ash who goes on a chase after a mysteriously entrancing girl without knowing or caring about where he is.

On a side note, the accordion work is performed by one coba, who I find to be a nice accordionist. :P

Seriously keep that for our many iyashikei weeks when we'll have special authorizations allowing us to post the whole Hidamari Sketch and x365 OSTs as nomination.
Obviously we need to create more topics on the club's forum.

Song Title : Gravity
Anime Title : Wolf's Rain
Composer/Artist : Maaya Sakamoto
Link : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8UXVBYFV

Lost : well, this week I'm not really sure if I understand very well the notion of being lost. I'm a man of principles, I have ideals, I believe in love, etc ... So being lost is not something that rings to my ears. In that case, I'm not really able to have a particular reading of the word so I'll stick to the literal sense. This song by our beloved Maaya Sakamoto tells us about being alone in a vast and unknown universe. This collaboration between Sakamoto and Kanno gives us a sad ballad which stays easily in our memories. Ironically I didn't get to watch the whole show but just some episodes on a French television channel and this song is the only thing I remember about Wof's Rain. Musically speaking the contrast between the continuity of Maaya's lyrics and the hammering sound of the piano adds on the feeling of a travel in which every single step is inevitable. This soothing piece of music may not be adapted to the thrill and the fear someone experiences when he's lost but brings a more fatalist way of living, with no real hope of salvation. I hope the beautiful voice of Maaya-chama will charm you all.

On a final note I must confess that I really hesitated as to which song to nominate. Other thoughts were : silky heart by Horie Yui (but that's too Love-oriented), Hybrid Rainbow by the pillows (because the lyrics speak for themselves but digiboy is part of the club) and finally Split by Suneohair which symbolizes for me the time I was dumped by my girlfriend and really felt uneasy and unsure about everything. Me watching Honey & Clover at the same time didn't help. HEP EMO-POLICE HERE, STOP TALKING YOU SHITHEAD !

Well, Smankh out !

PS : sorry for the crappy mp3 but that's all I've got. If someone has a 320kbps I'll take it with warm thanks !

Song Title: 歩 [Ho | Step]
Anime Title: Zettai Shounen
Composer: Nanase Hikaru
Link: here

"Lost" as a theme just screamed Zettai Shounen when I thought about it, and (in fact) it was kind of hard to figure out which track best fit, but any track named "Step" is kind of hard to pass up.

Song Title: 迷い (Mayoi | Doubt)
Anime Title: Soukyuu no Fafner- Dead Aggressor-
Composer: Tsuneyoshi Saito
Link: http://www.mediafire.com/?zycxmm44cql

When I saw the theme, this track from Fafner came straight into my head. When one's lost doubt in all its subtleties can crawl its way into anyone's psyche. I had another one from Mai-HiME, but since we're only allowed 1 nomination each...I guess I went with this one.

*edit* you might need to turn your volume up for the first 5-10 seconds or so since the track starts off VERY soft

Song Title: Kodoku no Signal (Signal of Loneliness)
Anime Title: Serial Experiments Lain
Composer: Nakaido Chabo (I think)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8a6b-MwFizk

This is a song that comes after Lain has erased herself from the world entirely. It's a lost touch with the entirety of the world - a lostness form existence - surely the ultimate lostness. It's a lonely song, but also one you might listen to on the road, on a journey, to nowhere.

This week needs some Hirasawa.

Song Title: Shizuku Ippai no Kioku
Anime Title: Paprika
Composer: Susumu Hirasawa
Link: here

This piece basically came to my mind when I saw the theme because of the level of madness that this track depicts. You're basically thrown in for a loop as your senses are completely overwhelmed by the sights and sounds of that trippy parade scene. This piece does an excellent job in complementing the wild scene by bringing a chaotic air to it all and unless you're firmly tethered, you're going to feel lost amidst the pandemonium and ruckus.

Song Title: Memory past
Anime Title: Casshern Sins
Composer: Kaoru Wada (和田薫)
Link: http://rapidshare.com/files/238173348/10_-_Memory_past.mp3.html

The theme for the first half of this very series is lost, so it's expected to have quite a number of pieces that would fit that very description. Memory past is a classic Kaoru Wada string piece, with a strong sense of loneliness, and a little piece on comfort thanks to the soothing sound from the violin. A beautiful piece, one that i'd be listening to if i was ever lost out in the wild.

A couple admin things to note:

1) We're at 9 tracks nominated for this week. If someone can toss up a tenth, I think we'll be set. Part of the reason is that I'll be out of town this weekend, so the sooner I can get the voting thread up and do all the necessary compiling/uploading the better.

2) The Kanon track isn't canon (hrhr) or rather, the uploaded version isn't played in the anime series (to my knowledge anyways) and so, I'll be using the version that is used in the anime.

Fear not though. There will be an occasion where I'll just arbitrarily declare a week to be doujin week and you can nominate all of the piano covers (official or not) or Hatsune Miku renditions of your favorite anime pieces just for a nice change of pace.

Dammit Shiroth, you chose the series I would have :).

Song Title: Nothing Can Be Explained
Anime Title: Bleach
Artist: Mike Wyzgowski
Link: http://www.imeem.com/people/uffpOX7/music/vhvFHwX4/mike-wyzgowski-nothing-can-be-explainedvocal-ver/

I didn't choose it JUST because the first word is "lost" :).

There's something that seems haunting about the song in general. It's full of loneliness and despair (as well as a bit of insanity) which I think fits the theme perfectly.

I know that's 10 right here, but since only now I had enough free time to find the mp3s and upload them, here are the three I was thinking of all week long:

Yuko Ando - Wasuremono no Mori from Gilgamesh
Kunihiko Ryo - Yasougetsuna from 12 Kingdoms
Naoki Sato - The Future's Always Alone from X TV
