I stumbled on it from exposure to gaming (which my roomates played but I never did--Final Fantasy, Shadow of the Colossus, etc.) and being struck by the soundtracks more than anything. Realized I was after more than just cut scenes, and walla...anime lol. I'd recommend giving the members here an idea of the niche you prefer. There's a lot of knowledge on these boards... |

Sword Art Online (yes, its trash, but you might still enjoy it and its talked about, so get an opinion if you care. Won't type this to other trash in this list.) Shingeki No Kyojin Mirai Nikki Guilty Crown Neon Genesis Evangelion Akira Ghost in the Shell Tengen Toppa Gurren Laggan Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Fairy Tail One Piece (that is actually kinda worth the 600 episodes if you like the beginning and have some free time) Naruto Steins;Gate Baccano! Durarara!! Hunter x Hunter Fate/Zero Kara No Kyoukai Haruhi Suzumiya K-ON (Oh god, I'm kinda crying inside while typing some of these.) Go for Berserk manga btw, the anime is kinda choppy and not for the new generation of anime fans that are attracted to glorious visuals and artstyles. Mizayaki and Satoshi Kon films' Highschool of The Dead Mushishi Inferno Cop Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica Redline Sword of the Stranger Akira Monogatari series ToraDora Death Note Code Geass Angel Beats Hyouka OreGairu Welcome to the NHK Soul Eater Higurashi OreImo Black Lagoon Clannad Legend of The Galactic Heroes Ergo Proxy Great Teacher Onizuka Hajime no Ippo Kuroko's Basket Bakuman And that's pretty much it, not all of them are great, but they're quite good for getting used to anime and all of its genres. Plus they're still talked about and its a nice way to meet people as well. |

| OP, do you enjoy Tarantino movies? Then watch Cowboy Bebop & Samurai Champloo. You'll love this. Do you enjoy Sci fi films like Blade Runner & 2001: A Space Odyssey? Then watch Ghost In The Shell & Akira. Do you enjoy Dark fantasy like Game Of Thrones? Then watch Berserk. Whatever you do, avoid trash like k-on, one piece naruto, bleach, lucky star, clannad, haruhi, is this a zombie, etc. Death Note is also good, but massively overrated. Possibly the highest level of over hype. Same with attack on titan. Or forget anime, and watch Breaking Bad. The greatest show ever made. |
