| My family is just whatever about it. They don't care one way or another. I'm not sure if they ever gave me problems about it, I have memory issues. My in laws, though, were very anti-anime and anti-gaming with my husband. They were constantly telling him how he needed to grow up or he'd never get married. I loved making them speechless when they found out I'm a bigger otaku than him and I support his gaming whole heartedly :P |

| my dad doesn't say anything, he thinks i'm playing games all the time but he doesn't care about it so i never bothered to explain it either. i don't really know about my mum, she's seen me watching anime multiple times but since she never really listens to what i say and instantly forgets every single conversation she has with me, we just kind of have the EXACT same convo every time. i think she thinks of anime like those cartoons on cartoon network, where the episodes eventually just start repeating themselves. "what's that?" "japanese cartoons" "don't you get bored of watching the same episodes over and over?" "think of it as an animated tv series that follows a plot, like let's say lost but, like, animated. right?" "oh ok" |

| They don't mind it at all. In fact, I got my mom to watch "Another" with me once. She enjoyed the hell out of it too. I think I should show her "Death Note" next. My step dad refers to it as "That Japanese shit" and my mom used to, but If it isn't in english, I don't think my mom will watch it, and I know my step dad for sure won't because he hates cartoons, he's like 60 something years old anyway lol. My mom is like in her 50's so it doesn't matter. I mean, I'll watch anime until the day I die anyways. |

| As a japanese style of animation. I only ever get 3 reactions from people that don't watch it... either indifference, saying it's for children, or saying it's for perverts. It's only acquaintances or strangers who say the latter 2, because I've never sought familial approval of my hobbies, and if they disapprove, they've never mentioned it. |

| Occasionally my mom will condescend me for watching "dumb anime shit" but idgaf about her opinion. She has no hobbies anyways. My dad is indifferent about it and I don't think anyone else in my family even knows I watch anime. |

| I've tried to watch anime with my younger brother but the only show he liked and watched till the end is SAO... so I lost hope. And since my mother think it's "stupid and only for perverted and immature kids", I tried to show her Uchouten Kazoku, since she like Ghibli's movies and both have a similar feel. The only comment I got after one episode was : " *siiiiiiigh* do you seriously watch stuff like that all the time?" So yeah, my hobby is pretty much despised at my household :( |

| I'm not 100% sure how my family interprets anime. I'm pretty open about the fact that I like it (have anime stickers on back of laptop, keychains, talk about it sometimes), but I don't often get opinions on it from other family members though. I think at least my parents respect it as a viable form of entertainment not only meant for children (I'm 22), which is great, they support me when I go to my local anime convention and my mom even asks me about anime I watch and seems to be interested. The only family member that I know of that watches anime though is my cousin and she is a very casual watcher (only hear her talk about case closed for the most part, and random shows she watched on adult swim a long time ago). Now, I can say that being in college for four years a lot of people attending my school seemed to interpret anime as kiddy cartoons and something you should grow out of by your 20s. I was in an anime club but outside of that, I heard a lot of mis-informed opinions from people looking at my laptop wallpapers and computer stickers. I did occasionally find people (outside of club) that knew about and liked anime/manga, but very very occasionally. |
