Well technically you dont have to watch anything else to understand what is going on in F/KPI.BUT.... Knowing what happened in Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay Night increases greatly your enjoyment of this series.The background of each character(except the new ones) from the other series actually matters even if this one is set in a different world. Now there are two problems. -Fate/Zero is a good adaptation but that alone wont be enough since it add background only for 2-3 chars. -Fate/Stay night anime is so bad that it wont make sense and it cant help you understand why the events that happen in F/KPI are so important to some chars like Ilya's parents and Ilya even if she is oblivious to them. The only way to fully enjoy this series is to read FSN Visual Novel and then watch FZ. Of course they arent 100% needed.You can actually watch FKPL alone but many things will seem to come out of nowhere.For someone that has watched/read the others they will be normal but to you they may seem like plotholes or asspulls. |

| Read the VN for FSN/wait for Ufotables new adapation. Watch the Zero anime then read the novel translations to get the awesome stuff they missed. Then play Fate/hollow ataraxia whenever the english translation is finished for more Fateverse hijinks. But you can watch Prisma Ilya and Carnival Phantasm while you wait for that. |
