Hello fellow MAL members!

Planetside 2 is a MMOFPS that launched in 2012. It's probably the last decades most anticipated FPS game and have 100s vs 100s wars/battles every single day. I started playing PS2 the same week it launched and I'm still playing. The reason I'm bringing this up here is because there's an event ongoing that rewards people that recruit new members. You might now think that I do this only for reward but I can assure you, that's only a part of it. ;) (busted). No but seriously. PS2 the game that made me into a FPS-dude and it's the only FPS game I've ever liked since CSS. If you have not yet tried this game, I recommend you do.

Gameplay:

So here's the deal;

Sign up to Planetside 2 on this link: https://recruit.soe.com/recruit/smlanding.action?iId=8ZQUYUR48MOF8VPEWANJ&gamecode=PS2

Benefits from using this link;
* You get free newbie items from the event
* I will personally meet you in-game if you wish and show/learn you the basics
* I will invite you to the outfit(guild) I play in which is the biggest on the server (more than 1000 members)
* You wont have to play alone (I don't have friends in game either, so this will benefit me as well)
* I'll add you here on MAL as well so we can get to know each other more

Requirements:
~ I play on EU server, so you will have to do so also if you want to play with me (you can still use my link and play on another server, but if you want to play with me, u'll have to choose the EU one)
~ Send me a message here if you registered so I can talk to you and see whether you want help/guild invite etc. or not

My PS2 character name: UniAno
My PS2 account name: Amazet
My server: Cobalt (EU)
My outfit/guild: Trident [TRID]
My nation: Vanu Sovereignty

I admit its a good game but even my computer had trouble running this with low settings. I did have fun when I am in the small battle zones but once more people start to pile in from surrounding areas I get to an almost unplayable state. Usually played as the sniper class myself.

It's sad to say it have changed quite a bit for myself as well. The first two months after the game was released I could play with high graphics without lagging at all, even in the massive battles. But today I use the low graphics all the time so I wont lag. I'm playing just fine now tho at very low graphics, but I know a lot of people have this problem. And I don't know how much you really do care, but I do recall watching a youtube video where you could manually adjust the ingame graphics and make them even lower than the game itself will allow you, so even people with not good enough computers/systems can still get a shot at playing it.

I played the beta for Planetside 2 and my computer almost exploded. It seems like a great game though from what I seen.

I've always been a lone-wolf myself, elevenletters. It took me a couple of months before I joined my outfit, and I don't know anyone irl or from my gaming community that plays this game. TBH I still lone-wolf a lot even after joining the outfit. But sometimes I decide to play for hours and hours, so I join the outfit platoon and it suddenly gets ten times more exciting. We have several platoon/squad leaders consisting of some of the most high ranked and experienced on the server, so it's always fun being able to do some team work with them and actually acomplishing things with other people. Not to mention being in a platoon with those people there's a lot of talking as well, it's not just running around shooting and blowing things up, you can actually keep up conversations and have a laugh as you rule the world. ;) Also we make our own fun if we're bored of just shooting. Like making our own Flash(bike) races or even making movies for youtube. Even if you're not able to play with me and my outfit I recommend joining an outfit on your server. It can really be a lot more fun than lone-wolfing. And being in the outfit, you can do both! :)

Best part about the game.
Was way too buggy back when I played it so it didn't leave too good of an impression other than the fantastic graphics and the massive scale and size of the battles.

The checkpoints were also way too close to the capture points leading to almost no-tactics whatsoever when it comes to capturing enemy bases and instead ended up just being an overwhelming nonestopping zerg rush until the defenders finally lost.

Haha the music is already nostalic to me. This is my favourite:

The checkpoints have been changed and switched around a lot since the start. They have even implemented new buildings so they sometimes spawn at other places and have different underground ways/etc. to diff capture points and such. I agree about the zerg rushes. Those are still happening. And that is also probably why I like defending more than attacking. Because if you're attacking you just zerg rush in until the opponent faction is trapped inside the spawn point. But if you're the one defending you can actually use real tactics (if you have the lowest number) and still win by just being plain awesome.

Don't you just love when they rush with twice as many people as you, but since you guys actually use tactics and team work you still manage to defend and show them off? :)

Yeah, I should probably give it a try again.
Been many months since I played and im sure it is more stable and improved now compared to then :)

Vanu Sovereignty's music is just eargasm material, absolutely loved their OST :> <3

And about that defending point you made, I never really felt that you could actually keep them off since their spawn point were just too damn close (at least from what I can remember.) so during the peak-hours it was definitely just a matter of time before getting completely overrunned.

I guess you can fight them off if the pressure is not too extreme.

You mean their next base was close to the one you were defending? When people attack your bases their spawn points are only sunderers and spawn beacons which can both be destroyed fairly easy. If you're defending alone or only with a couple of people and they have a sunderer with 10+ people ofcourse it can be a bit difficult to get their spawn point down. But if you have a bit of practice and can think strategy I'm sure u'd make it depending on where they put the sundy down. Engineers can carry up to 3 tank mines (I think) enough to bring a sundy down and light assaults can fly over and drop C4 on them . Heavy assault can put C4 and use rocket launchers if you want to take it down from distance. Get down their spawn points and you can easily finish off the people left there because now you can spawn unlimited but they can't. It's all about getting their spawn points elimited so you can kill the players left and turn the point around.

Meh, VANU ost is typical electronic bollocks.

DAT NC GUITAR RIFF ON OTHER HAND

Anyway, need to get back into PS2 one day. The whole ProSieben scandal left a bitter taste for me and the current controversy with EQNEXT and prosieben also does not help.
