Why in a lot of animes like these do the main characters either have to be completely blind to what's right in front of them or a complete pimp? I mean I love it so far, there's nothing wrong with it but i'm just saying why can't he not be stupid but not be a player? Why can't he just be in a situation where 2 girls like him and he's gotta make a hard decision rather then be completely oblivious to the situation. It's not that it makes for a bad anime but wouldn't it seem more realistic if he wasn't completely oblivious?

Well there is a difference to a harem and a romance / drama. Harems typically end where the MC doesn't make a choice. I mean there are obvious signs or ways that the MC might be leaning but sometimes there isn't a definitive person. As someone mentioned see Shuffle! for what happens, hah. I think there is no definitive choice because it might make some viewers disappointed if their choice isn't picked.

I think Oreshura will have a definitive pick though. It has the makings to be Masuzu to be honest. Also welcome to the world where the childhood best friend ALWAYS LOSES.

It seems being extremely dense ( like dense level 9,999,999,999 ) is very common in anime. When you have characters who can actually pick up on things there is less room for "development" and can limit the series from a creators point of view.

I prefer characters who are a bit more cunning and actually can pick up on things.

Idk, it seems kinda repetitive to have the main guy constantly conflicting with himself with choosing a girl. Having the guy being oblivious supposedly adds to the comedy, but it also gives the series a chance to develop, while having him choose would mostly make for static character development, I guess. Though it does kinda get irritating when they make them 100% oblivious, like when girls sneak into their beds naked and still not notice their feelings.

OreShura isn't quite showing the whole lot of inner dialogue that's going on, but from ep. 5 (just out) you should be able to see that Eita isn't completely dense. As soon as he gets the love letter, he starts to suspect that Chiwa was the one who sent it out and starts trying to see if his suspicions bear out. See for yourself though. I'm just saying Eita does think about these things instead of being clueless all the time.

I've noticed that too.. it's everywhere -- That kind of character.

I agree with you. To an extent.

What people fail to do, is realize that the main character's perspective is different than the audience's perspective. Not all of the little blushes and clues that we see, is seen by the main character. He can't exactly read minds.

And in Ore no Kanojo specifically, he has completely resigned himself from love. He is determined not to fall in love. Soo, he is deliberately blocking those kind of thoughts from his mind.

But yea, most of the time, the main character is a bit more dense than normal.
