A lot of responses on here make me sad. I would definitely keep on watching.

Yes, because there are still plenty of free legal alternatives. Watching a TV show with commercials or ad supported streams is still free enough for me.

What do you mean by actively? Following on-going shows? I don't. I don't even watch anime every day. It wouldn't be a problem until I go look for an older series that hasn't been made legally available outside of Japan yet. I'm likely to miss out on some stuff but I wouldn't stop watching.

if i was forced to pay for it, i would problely buy gintama and GTO and rewatch them from time to time, wouldent want to waiste money on new anime since there is so much i dont like, and would not want to try my luck for 30$ for the first 4 ep of each show i wanted to try out.

i would probably get a subscription to crunchyroll or netflix, maybe.
1 thing i would do though is buy a lot of manga, i get near enough the same enjoyment from manga as i do anime anyway :)

crunchy roll kind of lacks a lot of things though, but hey :) netflix i have no clue about but ive heard that is pretty good, think its because im in the UK there are less licensed ones here :)

It depends on the anime,
I would pay for Fairy Tail, but I wouldn't buy random anime.
The only reason why I can watch so many anime's is cuz it's free.
Otherwise I would limit myself , but I won't mind paying for them.
This the love I have for anime.I 'm willing to pay.

Considering I watched anime before it was put illegally online, or before I was able to access it online, I would still watch. I don't keep my DVD copies around for nothing.

Hell yes,

I would sub to some streaming site and buy my fav anime...most likely buy them anyway when I'm no longer a student to support the creators

I'd happily pay to watch the currently airing animu, if I was given a way to download and directly support the show.

Until then I'll continue buying goods, to support the stuff I like.

As for OP's question, I'd probably just play a shit load more VN's than I already do.

I would probably subscribe to Crunchyroll, and then only buy the DVDs of my absolute favorites. Although I wouldn't watch nearly as much as I do now. Lets all hope this never happens....

I'd still watch, but not nearly as much because I have no legal way of watching most of what I want unless I import it directly from Japan. I can't afford that, nor can I afford buying stuff released here. I'd only watch things on Netflix and Hulu, and I could probably afford a Crunchyroll subscription.

Well I kind of knew where things were going with legality, so Years ago I bought a two year subscription to megaupload. Anything new I buy, but anything pre2011 I've got.

Yes. I would buy Blu-Rays for animes such as Gintama (animes I really like). I wouldn't buy a DVD for a 12 episode anime.

And I watch a lot of anime on Crunchyroll, so thats cool.

probably not.
I will ofc still get one piece one way or another since I been following it and getting the manga for 12 years now. but if I have to pay for any other manga/anime, i will just stick with w/e reality show is on hulu/tv and basketball/football/baseball

I'd just continue on what Hulu, Crunchyroll, Crackle, and the FUNimation and Bandai Entertainment channels of Youtube offer for free. For Fairy Tail... I'd find a way. By then, there'd probably be support clubs for people who needed guest passes to watch certain anime on Crunchyroll, so I'd try that out.

nope because anime would probably be dead in the west if it wasn't for piracy.
It doesn't think, it doesn't feel, it doesn't laugh or cry..... All it does from dusk till dawn is make the soldiers die.

To be honest I don't really have the funds to afford all the anime that I watch if I watched it legally. maybe only 5 or 6 anime a year like I do with video games with now... I would be extremely selective in concern to what I purchase and I would rely MUCH more on reviews to help me decide what to get and would probably have a hell lot more free time lol

Id get a Crunchyroll sub if something i wanted to watch was only for premium members, and i think id stop reading manga cause it probably costs a fortune to get it where i live for one volume

Yes, no problem. There's still TV. It's where I started anyway and I still watch anime on TV. I'm iffy about some dubs though. Really ear cancer inducing voices sometimes.

Yes.

I'd be actively importing Blu-Rays if everything illegal was shut down. I wouldn't pay to watch the latest Crunchyroll/any other legal streams.

Yes. Just a lot less of it most likely. Probably just get a Crunchyroll sub and buy one series a year.

Maybe not as active as now, as I can only import BD, maybe I will putting all the anime recommendation in a list per year, perhaps only 20-something title I can get for a year.

Yes I would still actively watch anime if every illegal source was shut down. There is the free version of hulu, pawn shops, used video stores and websites, cartoon network, and there are stores like Big Lots that will sell anime and some of the big chain store occasionally put stuff on clearance of sale.

I'd personally go to Japan learn Japanese and watch anime on the TV. If anything else is needed maybe I'll pay for a subscription or whatnot.

Anime must be free for us D: hopefully stays that way

I don't like streaming if all illegal source of anime will be shut down I'll buy BR.
Though I'd be very picky.

Though I'll stick to local TV anime's or subscribe to add an anime channel on my TV.

Though if it were to happen I'll do everything I can to make it free and distribute it to the internet like drugs in real life. but for free.
