Yeah, downloaded anime can be put on an iPad through iTunes as long as it's an mp4 file (you can download programs to change the file type pretty easily, though it takes a while). Manga can be moved on as pictures, though I'm not sure if it would mess up the order or not.

Also, Netflix and Hulu+ have iPad apps that, if you're a member, you can use to stream anime to your iPad. As for manga, any website that you use to read online can be accessed with your iPad. I actually think it works great for manga, because the screen size is pretty much the size that most online manga is, so you get a full-page reading experience. It's my preferred way of reading manga online, actually.

If you like to stream your Anime, then you can download some third party apps that will allow you to do so on the iPad.

The easiest, most legal way you can watch, though, is watching Netflix's library of English dubs.

I prefer to do it the third party way. I don't enjoy dubs.

I have an iPad one and I usually watch anime from my comp and manga from an app for iPad called manga storm. Manga storm is good because now they allow you to download chapters of series from batato which has high quality pages compared to shitty mangafox.

And if I do watch anime from my iPad I must stream it

You could download the VLC app and transfer some anime from your computer, without messing around with iTunes.

But for manga, I recommend EVERYONE with and Apple device to download Manga Collection MF. Link to Appstore. It downloads pretty much any manga(with a few exceptions of some manga series) directly to your device from MangaFox. It's lightweight and awesome. I love it.

For Manga get the App called "Manga Rock 2"

I use it nearly everyday on my iPad, it uses a library of 10,000+ manga from MangaReader, MangaFox and MangaEden. Plus its all high quality for the retina display

Manga Rock is definately the best for manga.
None of my anime would work on my iPad, but i just downloaded a program called Handbrake and used that to convert videos to the right format - works perfectly

Anime on tablet's it's very nice, you can watch it anywhere. Most tablets read .mkv perfectly, if don't, just look in your OS (android, apple,symbian...) app store for some codecs or video players.

I use GPlayer for my anime (supports mkv and subtitle, but not 10-bit obviously, nothing supports 10bit), and Manga storm for manga.
For streaming anime, I pay for and use Hulu Plus.

If you want to watch anime on your iPad, you can stream from Animeboy.com
There is also the Crunchyroll application and Manga rock for Manga.

Also, you can download an app called "Downloads" Then from there download anime from Cyber12.com

The format is mp4 and it's playable right off the bat.

My asus TF300 handles 10 bit encoding like a boss. I simple throw any 32 gigs of anime on a micro sd card from my pc and boom, all on my tablet. MX player is like the CCCP of android, hasn't had an issue playing anything I've put on there. Granted you probably need the power of that Tegra 3 to have smooth 10-bit, tegra 2 and the like would have issues.

For manga, the Mango app is amazing. It's off market so you have to download it directly but it is a great app nonetheless.
