I think it's cute when a main character says a phrase in English, or at least attempts to.

It's funny since it's wrongly pronounced English and all. XD

It's not "cute" but it is funny sometimes.

Moderately amusing in some shows, horribly out of place in others.

Another related question is, do you like English songs in anime? For me they usually feel out of place and awkward. The song at the end of the Fuko arc in Clannad was an embarrassment.

Don't really care much. Usually sounds plain to me, but if their voice is beautiful or cool in a way while saying it, that's something.

Sometimes (like in spice and wolf) it is cute. Sometimes it is cloud in the mists of time, you must take your aim, and play your game, emotional neglect, it's the price that you must pay to your desire, it's alsatia, you just believe in the lie, to forget the awful truth, you know the disturbance never ends.

Totally impartial.

I'm pretty sure Japanese people (talking about reality now) like to slip English phrases into conversations. It's just like how English speakers like to slip phrases from other languages into their speech.

So yeah for me its like that.

It depends for me. Sometimes it can sound cute or funny in a good way, and sometimes it can sound out of place. I actually like hearing some phrases in OP and ED and even the completely Engrish songs can be okay like Amerie by Yuko Goto from Shukufuku no Campanella.

I never thought it was cute, mostly annoying

When it's a cutesy show I find it really funny,

when I'm in the middle of a very serious show and one of the characters suddenly comes out with a bunch of bad English it can ruin the atmosphere a bit. :/

I like it in certain situations. For example, the part when Revy was speaking Engrish was one of my favorite parts of Black Lagoon.

Situations I don't like it in are songs and any supposedly "badass" move or something like that. While in a very small amount of cases they're actually speaking English correctly and understandably, in most cases it doesn't make sense, doesn't sound like English, and just ruins everything around it.
There was actually an anime I was watching recently in which there was a song being sung...and while the voice and everything was beautiful, they were singing English sentences that didn't make any sense...and it just destroyed whatever mood they were trying to create.

It may work in some scenes, but it annoys me if a character that is supposedly a native English speaker is speaking in engrish. It's the same annoyance I have with English VAs not being able to pronounce Japanese names/words.

Yes, I also have this annoyance. Watching the English speaking actors in Ninja Assassin pronounce "Osaka" as "O-sack-uh" was...well, humorously bad.

It's okay if a character says a few engrish words....but if that's all the character speaks like then NO.

Since I listen to a lot of K-pop, there's a lot of engrish, I think it's cute lol.

If you have the lyrics to read along with it, you can "hear" what they're saying better. (which is usually the case with a lot of songs) But I hardly doubt that's "engrish."

Love it. It's so funny. I also like it in OP songs and stuff. Even in serious moments, it's just so great. It was used very well in Haiyore! Nyaruko-san (the Space CQC canceler buster etc. comes to mind).
