I'm looking for any works with a dystopian environment, like things that goes towards novels such as Brave New Word, Nineteen Eighty-Four or whatnot, perhaps.
Either anime or manga is fine.

I shall like you to this thread where they are looking for the same thing.
Also I highly suggest Ergo proxy.

I would try code geass or guilty crown

in both the MC is fighting against an oppressive "utopian" society.

List in spoiler
A * just indicates additional seasons, movies, ovas, etc
I love my 10's, 9's, and 8's. I like my 7's and have some regard for my 6's and 5's.

.Anime Title - .Year - .Eps - .My Rating - .Dystopia, etc.
-animeS - The plural of anime is anime. More than one deer is still deer. There is no damn "s".
-epic |ˈepik| noun•a work portraying heroic deeds/adventures covering an long period of time - adjective • heroic/grand in scale or character

My personal favorites are

1. Texhnolyze
2. Ergo Proxy
3. Angels' Egg
4. Casshern Sins

You can also check out Pale Cocoon if you want a really interesting short. But yeah I'd highly recommend those 4 especially the first two. Or you could try to fish something out of lisnoire's book she wrote for you lol, they're some great anime there but to label certain titles in that list as dystopian might be reaching a wee bit!

--LoL. Well, some are "painted with a very broad dystopian brush" but there is an element of what the OP is seeking in most of not all of 'em. Anywhere you have a repressive regime, you have some level of dystopia though it may not be Orwellian in scope.
