I've done it twice: Xam'd and Hell Girl. I just couldn't stand it any more, I kept whining to myself and it began to annoy me so I dropped them.

I sometimes drop them right before the end when the anime ending is different than the manga and I don't like where its going.

Like Kuroshitsuji(though It's not on my dropped list)

Hmm, don't think I've dropped a series when I was close to finishing it... I'm usually pretty quick to decide whether I'm going to enjoy it or not.

I remember wishing I dropped the first FMA a few episodes before it ended, LOL.
And I really, really should have dropped Kare Kano about 7 episodes before the ending. Man... that was painful.

I'd only ever drop an anime on the last episode or last 2 if it was an amazing anime and i knew the ending would ruin it (By being terrible or sometihng) and i didn't want it to spoil my view on the anime :P That's very rare, infact so rare i've never done it :c
but thats the only time i'd do it :D

Happens a few times, when I watch half of it and loss interest, but then later go back to see how it ends.

I just dropped Mayoi Neko Overrun right before it ended. It is too bad that I can't bear continue watching it anymore and that Chise is too annoying.

Sometimes anime is just TL;DW, like the big guys-- Naruto, Bleach, & One Piece. Other times, like Fushi Yuugi, you grow out of them and just find yourself more annoyed than entertained. *shrugs* It varies from anime to anime.

I've only dropped one that was at the end. I didn't have the codec to play it, and I just wasn't interested enough to find and download it.

I only drop a show if it's bad but I try and finish but if I struggle to put on the next episode then I know I hate it. It's just the way my brain works. But in my defence the two shows in my dropped list are really bad shows.

I've done this a couple times... ^_^ Well, I don't really drop them necessarily, I just lose interest and put them on hold. But only the series where I have already read the manga. :) I don't know why others do it, but sometimes it's like I'm not willing to finish the series because I love it so much...

The only time I ever dropped an anime totally was Naruto and that was only because it was all fillers for the rest of the series. I tried to continue, I really did, but it just got really really really bad....
There are series that are on-hold because I don't feel like watching them right now but I'll finish them one day in the future.
But I will not finish Naruto =]

Maybe not RIGHT before the end, but I dropped Eureka 7 after 32/50 episodes. That's the only one, though.

I just realized I have on my dropped list series with

9/12
92/102
25/39
12/24
17/26
14/24

And well, for most of them I watched them for a while while they were airing, then lost track about them / forgot about them and they were just not interesting enough to ever rewatch them. Others I started out of boredom and lack of good recs and then I found some really good series, put them on-hold and the same thing happened.
I probably regret this post by now.

The animes I've dropped when I only have a few episodes left is AIKa: Virgin Mission. I highly disliked the amounts of fanservice. I'm sensing that all of the sequels are like that, trying to mix loads of fanservice with action. THEY. DON'T. MIX.
