I did this to Utena. I couldn't stand the black rose arc, and on the last episode I dropped it and read a quick summary.

i bump thee

im surprised seeing alot of people with low drop counts, i drop alot of titles mainly cause some voices annoy me right off the bat, some chars are annoying and some shows are too predictable

No way. I'll only ever stop watching it before I get half way through it. Once it's halfway, I'll finish it, even if it's boring me. Come to think of it, that actually seems like a waste of time. Oh well.

I usually figure out I won't like a show within a few episodes of starting. However, every so often one slips through that filter, and I keep watching in the hope that the next episode just has to be better. And then it isn't. Normally I wind up finishing it, but every so often I catch onto the trend of my hating the show and just quit it before I waste any more of my time.

I haven't dropped anything near the end. The farthest I've gone before dropping is probably Soul Eater (which I will probably pick up again in the near future after watching 48 at my friend's house).

I wish I stopped at the penultimate episode of Toradora, the ending was an anti-climax.

Saiunkoku Monogatari II at I think episode 14, and Hayate no Gotoku at 39. They're both good. Dunno why I dropped em xD prolly because it felt soooo long and they had a lot of eps -.- Might resume watching..

I usually drop at the beginning of middle of a show. There are some shows that I've put on hold near the end. I'm probably not going to start them again for a long time, but I want to finish them if I can.

Im not sure why i do this but i do it often! or i get the feeling that i want to drop it as the show nears the end. its not really because its a bad show or anything. ive done this with Evangelion, GiTS, and Eureka 7...just to name a few. i get to like the last 5-6 episodes and then just stop watching. i guess maybe i subconsciously don't want to know the ending...i dunno but i do find it weird...i just put them on-hold...hopefully ill get back around to them lol

I don't drop anime. I may put them on hold for a huge while, but I usually get around to them. The only anime on my dropped list are the ones that I watched as a kid and am not sure how many episodes I watched (like Pokemon, DBZ, Medabots,etc.). I think your time will only be wasted when you drop an anime.

I only drop it if I can't stand watching anymore of it, or when I'm just too lazy to catch up. Although there are some where I keep on hold because they are good, I just don't have time, and I can't find them.

I don't think I'd done this before. I either drop the anime after the first eps or halway if it gets really boring. I doubt I would drop something if I was close to finish it. At least I can warn others now about how bad it was that I considered dropping it.

All depends on how involving the world and story is, how characters develop and generally how the show moves as a whole so at first I will give all new animes I watch a trial period to check for things that I think make a great show and if they all lack then I drop it. Sometimes moe keeps me going but only a little. Do I drop a show that is almost complete? - Almost always no, I may have done once or twice but it's not a normal practice for me to do so.

They probably just don't give a damn about what happens next. Besides, not everyone cares about completing an anime. If they don't like it or can't stand it anymore, then they drop it which is quite logical.

I do not have this "rule of dropping." If it turns into complete garbage I don't see why I should torture myself, regardless of how close to the end it is.

I've normally only dropped by either the 1st few episodes or halfway into the series. However, I did drop Now & Then, Here & There when there was only a few episodes left because I got tired of staying up to watch it just to be depressed and frustrated for the rest of the night

Normally I drop series in the beginning if I simply can't stand them. Once I've surpassed half of the series I rarely drop anything because this would mean I've wasted so much time for nothing. Then I rather watch it until the end and laugh about how pathetic that Anime.

Uh I don't drop anime near the end unless I'm too lazy to give a shit, or some thing came up and I forgot about it (IE New game or a better anime) and by the time I remember again, I'm probably too lazy to start watching it again. But I never dropped an anime near the end because I hated it, or it did some thing to make me not wanna watch it anymore. I usually figure out I hate anime pretty early on. But yea it's mostly a loss of interest, or distraction why I drop near the end.
It doesn't think, it doesn't feel, it doesn't laugh or cry..... All it does from dusk till dawn is make the soldiers die.

mm.. i haven't put them on my Drop list, but there are some animes that i have stopped watching before the final episode.. :D

for example..Toradora and Kare Kano.. why ? because i thought they were happy enough in the last episodes so watching the final episode seemed like waisting my time. Actually i liked them in the begiining more than in the end. At the beginning they were bit more complicated situations but in the end they were just carefree and happy ppl (not interesting for me) xD

I'd probably never drop an anime if I only have a few episodes left to watch, even if I hated it.
In the rare case of me actually dropping an anime, it's usually after two or three episodes, with the exception of the long running Bleach and Shippuuden.

there are lots of reasons why i drop anime before it ends.
number one is the predictability of a bad end. There are things that we just know the end will suck.
two, boring characters, if the plot fails my last resort are the characters, if this fails as well. drop.
three, spoilers. some people just can't shut their mouth. sometimes if the ending is still intriguing I'd still give it a go but if I am spoiled by a BAD ending. ~DROP

I've done this with a few. Reason being I got busy with something in life and stalled on it. Then by the time I get back to it, I forgot where I left it, or even if I remember where I left off, it feels like I cant just pick it back up because I forgot everything.

I did this on Monster. I was at like ep 70 out of like 75, and now I just cannot get back into it because its so complex that you half to have a decent pacing to keep up with it. I also did it on yakitate japan. I was at like ep 57 of 69 and i just couldnt get back into it even though i like it.

Why...? They can guess the end maybe, or they got bored. (Sometimes, by the end, indstead of being more intersting, it becomes worse).

I dropped an anime after 14 ep (Out of 50). In the beginning it was nice, but then I just got bored. I guess that what happens a lot to those who drope animes.

Ugh, I know, I have a hard time understanding that, too. I usually try to make it my rule of thumb to finally say, "Y'know, we've watched this far, might as well continue it just to say we did, if anything else." After spending so much time on a series, it feels like a waste.

Even anything I've watched a lot through and currently list as "dropped" I may pick up again. Anything "on hold" I definitely plan to get back into.

I guess if a dying plot or a filler has whittled down the fans long enough...

I've never dropped any Anime right before the end, mainly because If I was going to drop an Anime which happens very little as I'm very selective about the Anime I watch I would of dropped it sooner rather than later.
