I am a Education Biology Major now. I was previously a pharmacy major. Only do pharmacy if you really like not having a life outside of studying and if you like really boring work where a lot of people call you with problems. The money is good there but I guess money wasn't that important to me since I'm going to be a teacher.

Which one? Berkeley?

I'm a senior at Santa Clara University, majoring in Psychology. I've been trying to squeeze in a History minor, but I just don't think I'll have time to complete it.

Davis ^_^ I didn't even apply to Berkley since they focus so much on science... I bet the arts department is completely ignored. Congrats on pushing your way through SCU, I heard it's very difficult!

I know a bunch of people at Davis, since I live in Sacramento. :D I just figured Berkeley since that's the one most people just refer to as University of California.

And thanks, SCU is pretty deadly (but then again, so is Davis...). @_@

be careful though, teaching is a very stressful profession, dont let the little suckers get to ya. besides that, you'll probably help plenty of kids though

It CAN be very stressful, but not always.^_^ Depends on the kids you get...teaching can be extremely rewarding which is exactly why I'm doing it. In my opinion, Elementary school teachers have one of the most important jobs in the education world because they're the ones that influence a child's life from an early stage.

It can be stressful, that I know. :P I had quite a few troublesome students already from being a tutor in an after school program, but after working with children for a while, I really get the hang of things. It takes a lot of patience though and time. XD

By the end of the program I found it was very rewarding because all of them had a smile on their faces and they didn't want me to leave. XD It was really great...I wanted to come back next year, but I can't because my classes are a pain and end at 3:45. =/ They thanked me for putting up with them throughout the year. My two friends quit the job half way through and the children were really upset and some said they hated them. D= My friends couldn't stand them and complained to me all the time in class. >.<;

its LOOKS long, but its just "NHTI" at least thats what supernavi claims it is... its like my Cal-Poly -> California Polytechnic Institute of Technology... or something along the lines
that seems like a pretty interesting place to go, NH... I dont even really know where that is on a map... I feel kinda dumb... even though I know where prob half the countries in the world are on a world map...

@hoshi yea I went to Fanime, I spent a good $300 on merchandise there. it was pretty fun too.

Maybe I am the first then.

I'm at Newcastle University, in the North East of England.
Joint degree of English Literature and Japanese.
I'll be in my 2nd year in September, but for my first year I did a combined degree in English Linguistics, English Literature and Japanese. Decided to drop the linguistics since I didn't enjoy syntax of phonetics and phonology ^^;
Plus I get to take more Lit and Japanese modules if I drop a subject.

Well, I'm unsure about what the school system in the states is, but in the UK some places have the middle school / high school system, but most places go: nursery (kindergarten) (3/4 - 5 years old), primary school (5- 11 years old), secondary school (11-16 years old), then if you want to you can go to college (16+ usually for 2 years. Then if you want you go to university.
Universities go with the semester system, most courses last 3-4 years. I'm not sure if that is what you meant when you asked that, but yeah :) If there is anything specific you want to know then I shall answer XD

For my school district in New York State grade school goes by:

Pre-K (optional)
Kindergarten to 6th grade aka Elementary School (6-12/13 years old)
7th-9th grade aka Junior High School (13-15/16 years old)
10th-12th grade aka High School (16-18 years old)

Most districts for the junior high and high schools though go 7th-8th grade (junior high) and then 9th-12th grade (high school). My school district is just a little weird though. Lol

People usually go to a 4-year college, but some go to a community college for 2 years to start off and then transfer to a university in order to get a degree in whatever it is they want to major in. However, this of course differs depending on your major. Someone who's in a medical program would follow a different college plan than someone majoring in education. ^_^
