So, in english, CR already released a BD, However it sub-only, and then CR dub it in other language, LATAM Spanish, Brazillian Portuguese, French, Spanish (Castilian), and Italian, and outside CR, recently a german anime distributor/licensor animoon announced it got a german dub includes the songs. And the importantly the anime got a Season 2 .

It begs a question, After its popularity and it already dubbed in other language, are there any chance of it getting an english dub next ? i wish there something that fans do to let know Crunchyroll that fans wanted english dub for this anime.

Sometimes asking dubs in this forum would be difficult because majority of them always had negative view on english dub or saying something like it shouldn't get dubbed why would want a dub if the JP is already good, sub vs dub, english dub va bad people, I really hope that i would get a positive answer

@ajw215799 I knew it, typical negative answer in this forum. If you dont want english Then why it got dubbed in other language ? Every popular anime should get english dub

@Aan120898 no one knows why Crunchyroll does the strange things that it does but I only agree with popular anime getting English dubs but only to help the visually impaired/challenged

Funny how I hear a more recently released band anime (Rock is a Lady's Modesty) is soon to get an English dub before Bocchi of all animes

It’s weird that it doesn’t since it’s so popular and would fit a dub really well

It makes sense for most shows to get dubs, but I don't think that's the case for shows like Bocchi or Girls Band Cry. I feel like a big part of what makes shows with a huge music element special is to have a seamless transition between the story and music using the same VAs.

Having a dub would encourage more people to miss out on the full effect by having the characters randomly switch voices and languages whenever there is a song.

Objectively if you change the original source it's gonna be problem because Japanese language have their own jokes or something just referring to the language so when it gets dubbed it's like cristians follower corrupting the bible since Jesus going to heaven

No they didn't, even if in Portuguese Dub they cast professional singer voice actresses for Kita and Kikuri roles.

This could be said of a lot of things but this truly feels like something that would be ruined with an english dub. Most of the fun is in listening to the japanese performances. If you take that away, and probably replace most of the jokes, it's just not the same thing anymore.

There are no good VAs who can make a good dub.

At least none of the usual anime VAs.

Musical anime are a bit of a stranger cases to dub. Surprised a big name like bocchi never got dubbed though. The dubbing industry must be in a strange place.

I think it deserves a dub to make it more accessible to everyone. Bocchi is a rather popular show and with season 2 on the way, a dub may still find an audience even this long after the first season's release.

Bocchi is one of the few shows I have seen subbed. I had a lot of reservations about subs when I first started watching anime and though I still prefer the dub viewing experience, Bocchi proved to me that you should not skip an interesting show if there is no official dub.

Tricky thing could be the music. I personally do not think it would be necessary to dub the songs. It wil only make casting more difficult and seeing that it is a music show rather than a musical show, keeping the subtitles there in place would be a better choice.

Even tho I’ll never watch it, I can’t believe the dub is still not there! People should be free to choose even if they make bad choices 😂

I'm kinda feel in between this though.

Obviously this is my opinion but I think its better for it to not have an english dub even though that would be sick. It doesn't hurt for it to have one as long as the comedy is still being played right. Like someone mentioned, the thing that makes this anime memorable is the scenes in japanese
I honestly would like to watch it again dubbed since I do wanted to know how they will play out the funny moments in this anime but as of now, Im not really sure if we'll get one. I guess it's all gonna be based on how season 2 end up going. I do not want to start a fight either so any disagreement is valid.

As several people said, a dub would ruin it. Japanese jokes are different and won’t be as funny in English, and it would be weird to switch from English dialogue to Japanese songs.

People should watch anime in whatever language they like. It doesn’t matter as long as the story and characters are accurate to the original. I do prefer sub and it is probably the best way to watch anime other than raw (though I don’t know Japanese so this is not an option for me), but I watch plenty of anime in English dub as well. I like hearing the different interpretations of characters and some dubs are on par with or better than the original.

It would certainly be interesting, but I don’t know if a Bocchi dub would work all that well. The voice acting in that series is a huge part of its charm and like some other responses said it would be pretty jarring to have the cast be English and then suddenly change back to Japanese during the songs and some of the jokes would probably be changed to accommodate for the language barrier and timing of the dialogue. Obviously they could just go all out and dub the songs as well so that would solve that issue, but then your pool of potential actors shrinks quite a bit. Maybe you could get AmaLee as Kita. That would be pretty cool.

My guess as to the reason why it didn’t get a dub originally is that it wasn’t necessarily supposed to be popular; it just became a hit.

In conclusion, I’m definitely not opposed to Bocchi being dubbed, but I’m not sure that it’s necessary considering it is already incredibly popular and there are some unique hurdles to overcome when dubbing this type of anime. If done by the right people, it could be really good and could help boost its popularity with people who might not have watched it due to it not having a dub.

I’m sorry you’re going to have to deal with the sub purists for simply wanting a great anime dubbed into our native language.

A Bocchi dub CAN work if you cast the right voices.
