While watching this anime, it keeps reminding me of the philosophical thought experiment. To explain it for those unfamiliar, imagine there was a ship called The Ship of Theseus. The ship has been used for a very long time. So much so that every single piece of the ship is replaced, but still resembles the original ship. The question is: would you say it was still The Ship of Theseus? This thought experiment is used to question identity. Are we who we are because of the parts of us or are we the same no matter what form we take? Am I overthinking the anime with this comparison?

It does have certain similarities, Reiko looks, acts, talks and lives the same way Kujirai B. But is she the one and the same? To that I respond, no it surely is the same base, the same structure, but not the same person.

Because fundamentally, our past, our experiences and our relationships with others shape our actions, reactions and who we are

Reiko could never be kujirai because she never experienced the same life, despite being almost identical in each aspect.

I guess I see your point and raise it, we might be born with certain traits and appearance. Yet it is our life, our experiences that makes one unique. Reiko and kujirai B could never be the same person/ ship even if she physically is literally the same person as they are made up by different experiences and emotions
