This movie reminded me a lot of A Place Further Than The Universe. It also shares themes of distance across space with the Hoshi no Koe OVA directed by Makoto Shinkai. For how long the movie was, I felt quite attached to the characters and the romantic chemistry between them. Beautiful animation and scenery depiction along with emotional and soothing music and soundtracks. I have mixed feelings over the dramatic ending though. That has to go to Top 10 Baits in All of Anime.

Hats off to the animation ✨💖💖💯
The director Han ji won did a splendid job.
Love her style..gave me Makoto Shinkai vibes.
I don't want to nitpick at each and every plotlines but I enjoyed the romance and the characters. I'm glad it was a happy ending even though it felt forced.
Great leap for Korean animation ✨❤️❤️
The thing that I didn't get was..did her mother survive and developed the garden or did it grew on its own !?

Good movie overall with GREAT music and good visuals. Definitely agree with some of the criticism about the romance and the ending but my MAIN complaint about this movie was how Joo's trauma/ptsd wasn't handled? She had some serious panic attack scenes earlier on in the movie and I thought these would be addressed later on. I was expecting something similar to how Jay had to overcome singing in front of a crowd. Just felt like they forgot about it.

This is exactly what can be expected when k-drama meet animation medium. This is a big statement from Climax Studio to show to the world that Studio Mir is not the only Korean animation studio anymore. And to think that this is their first work.

I feel like it should push a sci-fi element a little bit by making her mother survive, maybe alien or something.

+1 for everything Tendou said. I enjoyed the film! I really loved the beautiful background scenery art and setting of the film. Ending was a bit funny but I still enjoyed it anyways. The music was also pretty nice.

The second half makes me dislike a little the first. Sure develop the relationship is important, but the sci-fi is so more fun.

If this wasn't a cheesy love story. Jay would been zapped setting up the antenna. That would subvert expectations. Like Nan-young hearing the transmission and ending with a scream of Jay being zapped. Coming to a full circle with her trauma of seeing her mother die.

@KawaiiTendou If the movie is focused on Nan-young and her mom instead of her man, it would be very similar to A Place Further Than The Universe.

But it being a romantic story works just as well. Lost in Starlight was clearly inspired by Shinkai. I thought there was something Weathering With You missed that prevented me from thinking it as a masterpiece. This movie had that 'it' factor, helping me score this a 10.
