i still have no idea what to expect of this show but i love moe and i appreciate every anime that is trying something different so ill be there no matter what

Every time I see a rock I wonder how it came to be. Think of how difficult it would be to make one from its elements. Now ponder the natural — and sometimes extraordinary — processes involved, not to mention the time required.

From rocks we get the lithium in batteries that power your phone, the aluminum in your car, the iron in your blood, the gypsum in the walls of your home and office, and so much more. Fungi and microbes break down rocks into forms that plants can use to become the food we eat and nature we enjoy. Rocks are everywhere!

An anime about geology and rocks? I’m so there. This topic can be a hobby, interest, career, or simply a relief from the stresses of life. Anime and manga make it more accessible to young, curious minds. However way you choose to indulge, enjoy! What you learn can pop up later in life in surprising ways. 😎

@UaEfAlCoN83 Interesting. Can you tell us what kind of rocks and minerals you usually come across in your travels? Is there anything in particular you're hoping to see in the show?

@SuperJohnDoe Mineral collection is different from mineral extraction. Extracting minerals is actually hard; you need to identify rocks that have minerals and then carefully cut them and remove dirt from the mineral. Then they have to polish the mineral to make it look nice. Obviously it is not as simple as I made it but this is what I know.

I purchase minerals from dealers and auctions.

Generally speaking, I would be fine with anything as long as they don't find a desert mineral in a forest lol.

That is a decent observation, but I'm willing to bet they've done their research. They'll probably also have slides explaining each new mineral per couple of episodes.

@SuperJohnDoe It depends on the side of the mineral, the type, purity, whether multiple minerals are on the same rock, and many other factors.

Some of my minerals costed less than $100, and the most expensive one is like $300. I will never pay more than that not until I have a big room just for minerals. Some minerals cost as high as 50k and even more obviously I wouldn't pay for it even if I had the money -- unless I had Elon Musk's money lol.

Check Weinrich minerals if you want to get an idea.

You can check also e-rocks auctions; make sure not to purchase "thumbnails" as they are tiny and barely visible. Always search for "small-cabinets" or "cabinets". In general, small-cabinets are good in size and price (if you don't pick something like pure Azure which is extremely expensive). Some people like "miniatures" but I don't. I own a few of them but bigger ones are nice.

Circling back to the anime, I do believe they have done their research as they showed minerals with great details like Bismuth --- Bismuth is an element unlike most minerals.

@UaEfAlCoN83 I took a look at the site you mentioned and sure enough, even some small pieces can seel for up to thousands. Wouldn't mind a nice chunk of topaz on my bookshelf, but that's probably for much later down the lane.

Oh yeah, you're right! Cool detail! Must have been a pain for the animators, but it's a joy for us to watch. haha

Give just the first episode a try then. Something might click while watching, or you'll just confirm it's not your thing.

@SuperJohnDoe That's the thing. I never employ a 1-episode or 3-episode rule. If I start a series, I finish at least one season always.
Let's see if it 10 minutes after all when it airs.

@Pangea_ No need to be so rigid, man! If I don't like a series, I just drop it outright. I only stick to the end if my friends are also watching the show and I want to give my 2cents of debate (all the mechas I've seen fall into this category lol).

Tha safest bet for you might be old school OVAs. Always short and to the point; even if they have their issues, I'm always left satisfied.

im actually so excited, i love slice of life shows that focus on a hobby. reminds me of asteroid in love and slow loop from recent(ish) seasons.
