Is Squid Game S2 Giving Anyone Else Promised Neverland Vibes?

Did anyone else feel like Squid Game S2 mirrored TPN S2? Both shows kicked off with gripping fresh concepts I would say their first seasons were masterclasses in tension and storytelling.

But I felt by Season 2 something fell off. Squid Game expanded its scope with more subplots and characters but ended up feeling scattered while the games lost the unpredictability that made them thrilling. Similarly, The Promised Neverland rushed its story sacrificing the careful pacing that defined its debut seasons. Both shows seemed to lose their thematic core, with endings that felt rushed and less cohesive.

It feels like this is a common trap for shows like these, they hit gold with a unique concept, but sustaining that magic while expanding the story is a monumental challenge. What do you all think?

sequels usually sucks anyway since lots of times they only plan for a first season to be a complete story so its not exclusive to those shows

never watch promised neverland though but i heard the season 2 did not follow the manga aka source material so thats the problem with it

I liked season two. The creator focused on the story and not the Squid Game which I think is important. We'll get the American remake where only the games will matter. But I'm glad that season three won't be a new game with new characters again, but rather a conclusion of everything that's been set up. No new villain either, just more backstory and totally not surprising twist helpers. Season two is the bridge to the conclusion and I hope they pull the story of. But it's definitely a part 1 and part 2 situation for sure.

I'm at the 4th episode of Squid Game 2 and it really took a bit to start. It's comparatively less exciting than the first for sure, something feels a bit off. I haven't seen Promised Neverland, but I wouldn't be surprised if what you said turns out to be true.
