Bee mimics always make me happy when I see them. Especially any sort of bombylius. Always pick them up and hold them whenever I see one. Love those big goofy flies with their not-a-stinger mouth thing. :)

Not mine, pinched here from Reddit.

EDIT: Reencoded the WebP to look a bit better.

Cicadas. I rarely see them but I really know the summer is there when I hear them singing. It's kinda nostalgic when I hear them too.

On another end, I hate Japanese beetles so freaking much. I wish death upon them all.

You have no choice but to passionately hate them if you tend a garden.

I've always been fond of Water striders. Likewise dragonflies and damselflies.
Earthworms are also cool.

I don't mind looking at lady bugs but I don't like them to come near me.

I'm fine if it's a plush toy.

My favorite bug? Probably lady bugs. I don't know why that is the case.
I have approximately 1 terabyte of anime on my computer.

where has this thread been all my life?

Leucochrysa pavida - "lichen-carrying-lacewing" they're like hermit crabs on the sides of trees they cover themselves with huts of lichen and scuttle around looking for food

Curculio glandium - acorn weevil, but really just any weevil in general

Paratrechina longicornis - "longhorn crazy ants" they are all basically clones of the starting queen and its mate, her daughter queens are her genetic clones and her sons are the genetic clones of her mate

Lethocerus americanus - "american giant water bug" these guys are big and they hunt fish, tadpoles, ect which is wild because you're talking about an insect killing and eating something that has a skeleton. If their pond dries up, their wings dry off and they can fly to a new one.

Baeus seminulum - super tiny little wasp that just looks goofy

Dicromantispa sayi - "Say's Mantidfly" its like a bug-centaur, half of it looks like a lacewing and the other half looks like a mantis.

never ask an entomologist to pick one favorite lol

Oh, wrong kind of bug...

I am a moth furry so I'll say that.

But there are so many other bugs I adore I literally cant even. I urge everyone to learn to love buggos because when you do nature becomes 10x more interesting.

Lady bugs, house spiders, and bees. I would like to someday raise an army of bees to fulfill my motives.

@Nette

Yes, someone gets that!
Most moths are such beautiful creatures but people only think about clothing moths if they hear moth. Especially I love the Atlasspinner (don't ask me about the English name), the Cecropia Moth, the Oleander Hawk-Moth and of course the Luna Moth.
There are some beautiful day butterflies as well, but moths have this goth and witchy vibe to them xD

@LittleOwlbear it's funny I dont live in a place with clothing moths so I dont think of them

My phone is occupied with tons of bug photos. I have this whole deal with multiple pictures of a bee I found and gave it honey and let it take a nap. Such a cute little creature

Also recently I took a pic of a wolf spider I found at work, they are so cool. My second favorite spider after the jumping spider. Well there are tons of cool spiders lol.

One time at work I had a praying mantis sitting on my shoulder l, just watching the world.

Lol, sorry I just cherish these creatures.

The golden tortoise beetle. Truly, we are blessed to live and be able to witness such things (this is a very alchemically pure beetle, effective a thousand times!).

Bumblebees - Love how fuzzy and cute they are.
Roly-pollies - Used to always play with them as a kid.
Cicadas - The noise they make always lets me know that summer is here.
Vinegaroon - Looks pretty cool, almost alien like. Used to scare me as a kid, but after learning more about them, I don't mind them. As long as they keep the scorpions away, that's all that matters.
