| I am late, but as you probably know by now, the girls stories follow their real life counterparts. Special Week's career highlights ended in S1 Ep 12. Most of the next years involved him becoming a breeding horse, so I dunno what sort of anime that would be... Silence Suzuka was put down after his tragic injury (shown in anime) in the very year he was unbeatable, so they cannot exactly concoct further story around her but only pay tribute keeping her in background. Tokai Teio has a really inspiring real life story, so making her the S2 protagonist was the perfect next step. Along with her, Mejiro McQueen comes from the same era (1991-93), so their story intertwined makes sense. Don't be confused by Mejiro being not paired with Gold Ship. Irl Gold Ship was a stud of Mejiro iirc, so they tried to play on a father-naugthy son dynamic ig. So, now the thing is because it's non-fiction, an entire 12 episode show on a horse is tough. For example, you cannot select a horse with a short career (which is why Agnese Tachyon is in the movie). At the same time, you cannot chose a "boring" undefeatable horse. So Symboli Rudolf (someone who always won irl) cannot be a protagonist. TM Opera O is something similar, but they still used her wisely, only in her growing early years (1999). Currently they are adapting Oguri Cap's story, which is, again, the right move, considering the real life version has an awe-inspiring story. But she can't be in Spica, because in that universe she's kinda retired. Which also makes sense because real life Cap career is about a decade before say, Special Week. |
