Okay so Shirayuki also had the same request as Obi. For him to continue his duties as her bodyguard and not Tariga.
She passionately and humbly makes her request, reflecting on the bonds, blessings, and titles she's gained/benefitted from two royal families: Zen and Raji.
Obi is clearly moved Shirayuki wants him and even lowers her head to Lord Jiran.
Meanwhile Tariga's out of a job...? lol

Jiran goes with them to apologize to Zen for not considering their feelings before assigning Tariga as Shirayuki's bodyguard.
Though I think Shirayuki working with Tariga could have an interesting dynamic. She's shown she can get along with practically anyone (as long as they don't carry a prejudice for "commoners").

I actually forgot Obi set his dagger down and swore loyalty Zen and Shirayuki.
But I still clearly remember Zen setting his sword down before Shirayuki and promising they'll be together no matter what.
It's like poetry...?

And then we get the calmest confession/rejection/acceptance between Obi and Shirayuki?
Obi. Dude. It's a little too late maybe a tad inappropriate but Shirayuki's so big-hearted she accepts him and doesn't push him away.
I expect Obi will carry his unrequited feelings for her for the rest of the series but I hope he finds someone who can match him.
A good author leaves the audience enough material to be satisfied with, yet yearning for more.

@xxxATiON As someone who reads a lot of ObiYuki fanfiction I absolutely love this scene.

But even from a more neutral standpoint I just like their relationship as is. For Obi who always kinda just had to survive and scrape by it is a huge deal to not only be accepted but actively wanted somewhere. It doesn't even really matter if he loves her romantically, they are family to each other at this point and it's nice to see the story reflect that.
So while for him that was probably a love confession, there was also a lot of "take me with you" and "let me belong somewhere" in there. And knowing Shirayuki, those are the parts that she reacted to the most.
After all, no matter who is in love with who – they are probably each others closest confidant after travelling together for so long.

But I do wonder what Jiran was thinking to meddle like this. I assume he had some point besides "I already have enough guards"?

And we'll probably still get some Shirayuki and Tariga interactions. They're both stationed there now.

@Fledermaus13

Those are good points.
Obi's always been a lone wolf (or cat in his case? lol) so it was heartwarming to see he's found a place he belongs in Zen's group. He won't run off without saying goodbye because he has people who worry for him now and he won't betray Zen or Shirayuki.
Zen has already confronted Obi on his feelings for Shirayuki so it was a matter of time Obi would let Shirayuki know in some way.
This way Obi can move forward and I'm hoping he'll meet a girl who appreciates his cat-like mischief and cares for him the same way Zen and Shirayuki care for each other.

oh yeah i do notice that as well when obi placed his dagger down, it echoed zen’s old promise with his sword lol their final talk felt peaceful and real. obi confessed a bit too late, but shirayuki stayed gentle and understanding, never letting it turn awkward. she doesn’t share his feelings, yet she values them, and that makes the moment feel genuine :)
