Random thread that likely gets no replies but I enjoy this stuff idk.
In the example I am giving this is chapter 78 and probably like 75 of those have been a group and extended friend group hanging out then this guy rolls up all the way from chapter 10 and the author has the audacity to call the poor guy a friend. He doesn't even know the name of the FL who is also in every single one of those hangouts. Any other examples of an author being like hey remember this from an eternity ago?
from a very fun manga called Hitomi-chan wa Hitomishiri
I know this happened in "A Condition Called Love" since I did read that more recently and it's the one that I can remember at the moment. Although I think the mangaka only pointed out that something happened in such and such chapter when it came to the little extras at the end of the volumes, but my memory sucks so I could be wrong.
I have seen this happen here and there but wasn't really jarring.
I do have trouble remembering all the characters if there are too many and have similar hair style...
it's not within the vein of "See chapter x for obscure character" since i can't really recall any, but this thread title has made me think of the Oldboy manga. I think it might've been one of the most blatant cases of a series drawing out its plot for long past overdue because the author couldn't think of what to write next and just telling the readers to read the next chapter.
every single chapter towards the end is suuper scarce on any new information and just a very blatant "uhhh read the next chapter to find out this shocking reveal!!!" just for said next chapter to be the same thing lol it's such a jarring case of a manga doing that, that its stuck with me for quite a while
