In the west most certainly.

People have a hard time understanding romance when it comes from other countries so for serious romance like these people need to be a little more mature and know how people interract in other cultures.

Well that's because most romance animes are comedies (even though the story following the anime tends to be more romance centered) and that ecchi comedy sells really well.

But I don't see a pure romance selling better than a comedy on international market. I mean just look at Roshidere's rating (no blame on Roshidere I'm a fan myself) the beginning goes full comedy and there it's 3rd anime of the season with now rankings.

I see the title question as completely rhetorical as the MAL membership has a minute amount of effect on the success of an anime. Sales of TV rights, DVDs, Blu-ray Discs and collectibles in Japan define the success or failure of an anime.
But in reply, probably not as it is well made and explores an unusual situation with realistic characters. Ask again in 3 months when we know wether or not season 2 is coming 😂

Ive seen episode one and honestly it made me crave a regular healthy growing relationship between step-siblings as they become closer ti the point of trusting and being friends with each-other. the anime sticks clearly to details on the original source light novel, the studio didn't skip any necessary scenes and the art style is good. Unfortunately, it doesn't garner any attention because of new anime popping up like oshi no ko new seasons or alya speaking Russian.

For example take hyouka, it is a very calm and beautiful anime with it's mysterious situations about it some people came to like it very much but others consider it to be a very boring and lifeless story.

It will not flop but it will not be as great due to people's taste.

Ps. I saw the first episode and now have read the light novel till volume 9. So I liked it very much and the anime is depicting it exactly as light novel is. Though there are some changes and time given to each short part is different but the feel and emotion of characters is on point.

It has a novel but the events in the anime is quite scattered in the novel and the novel is not quite delectable in that terms as I was unable to find the official version of it.

Though in brief the story then revolves around the problems of a new girl that is introduced and the lit club is involved with solving her events.

This anime shows a slow development but its good and natural like how real life works, everything need process, nowadays romance anime have a rush plots (like the plot are being pushed) so if u mature enough to keep up with the plot, its chilling and enjoyable i think, so yeah its just my opinion no hates 🙏🏻😇

Without knowing anything about the lightnovel or the story beyond the first 2 anime episodes, it has already become my most anticipated show of the season.

I love the two main characters, how they think, as well as how they interact with each other. I also love the style and how it's directed. Personal, everything I see gives me a lot of confidence in the anime.
