Given the limited nature of the favorites feature on our profiles, I think when you add something there it is way more important than, for example, giving a high score. As a matter of fact, this is one of the reasons I have only one favorite - to emphasize how much more it means to me than anything else. Thinking like that, today I got randomly curious about the following topic: how many of the users who completed an anime add it to their favorite anime list? So I opened MAL's Top Anime page and calculated the completion/favorites ratio with these results:

It means that among every five people who watched LotGH, one has it in their favorites. For FMAB ~it's one in ten. Well, you should get the idea by now. Sequels ruin the whole picture a bit, but there's nothing that can be done about it unfortunately.

So what do you think of this? Do you know any anime with high completion/favorites ratio outside of the most popular anime?

Favorited/total members excluding PTW might be a bit better, since it has the same purpose but it should make the results less skewed towards longer anime. In any case, it is indeed a useful metric since a non-negligible amount of MAL users literally rate every anime they watch 10/10, which means that the scores of popular anime are inherently inflated.

A notable case outside of MAL top 50 is Nana, with a favorited/completed ratio around 10.4%.

That's a very interesting number to calculate, probably more reliable than the other rankings.

However using the completed number excludes shows like One Piece, Detective Conan and Shin-chan. If the watching number is used for airing shows, then

One Piece = 13.23%
Detective Conan = 9.12%
Shin-chan = 3.77%

Vinland Saga S2 is twice in that list, the 4.10 looks like the right one

Shoujo Kakumei Utena is at 11.92

Interesting result OP, I like people who get curious enough about such things to find the answer.

I created a similar thread 5 years back and used this formula
Favorites Percentage = No of Favorites/(Total Members-Plan To Watch Members) *100

That actually depends on how many anime one has seen. The limit of 10 slots is meaningless for someone who has seen only 10 anime. Fullmetal Alchemist is high on your ranking because it's the only anime many have seen, making it a common favorite by default. Someone who has seen 20 anime can mark 50% of them as favorites, but someone who has seen 1,000 can only mark 1% as favorites.

There basically aren't any, for the reason I said before. Obscure titles are only watched by those who watch 1,000 other titles, resulting in an extremely low probability that a specific title will appear on a user's favorites list.

Ranking based on the favorites ratio would work better if MAL allowed each user unlimited favorites. Unlimited favorites would emphasize your love of Shizuna even further.
