I just watched it. Felt like they were omitting quite a few parts from the novel with how disjointed some of it was, especially early on, though I still very much liked it.

Yuu was my favorite character - she was a character you could root for through all the setbacks and disappointments. She was needlessly cruel to the others, especially mika, but it wasn’t something I could blame her too much for given it was her lifelong ambition and kids can be assholes sometimes. That one scene with mika near the end kinda put all that into perspective for me

Definitely planning on reading the novel when I get the chance. I’d like to find other stories like this if possible as well.

'Being an idol is temporary, but their friendship is permanent.'
No matter what you are, idol or any other job this proved that you can make people smile and be happy. You don't need to be an idol but being with the things you love is the best way.
The friendships between the four main characters are unbreakable. No matter how long the time has passed, no matter where they were, they will still be friends forever.
Yuu was quite manipulative, sometimes. But, it was also Yuu that helped them.
For Ranko: Yuu is the one who helped her to find the thing she wanted to do in the future
For Kurumi: Yuu is her first official friend.
For Mika: Yuu is her hero who helped her from the bullies.

I didn't expect the time-skip ending before. This was quite a surprise for me. But, this kind of ending also emphasized that even if they were walking on different paths, even if they were not idols anymore, they could make people smile in their own ways. And, the best part was their unbreakable friendship.

I really liked the movie. Also, does anyone know the name of the song they debuted with? Wanna see if it is on Spotify, it is catchy.

I don't know if it is allowed to publish links, so I will post a screenshot of the song (the green one), the other song is the ending.
It is called なりたいじぶん (ro: Naritaijibun).
