What I write here has nothing to do with the anime, right now I'm still on episode 5 and still enjoying it even though it's cringy. I don't know yet if I will be able to survive until season 3.

Thoughts like these have never before appeared in my head in all the years I've watched anime, but after I watched this show I became curious, do most Japanese men really **** like this? Well, I mean, I've often come across shows that depict men like this, but only this show succeeded in making me ask this question.

It’s like watching jojo. Character’s overreact. But done in not so badass fashion.

The type of ppl the manga panders to definitely enjoy it for above all, the waifus. Others may enjoy the trashy drama aspects but its main selling point is without a doubt the female characters and their respective waifu traits. It doesn’t help that as painfully mediocre the story and romance is, the art is actually amazing, making the girls stand out even more

@jpexists Thank you for your explanation. But please don't shift the direction of this topic there, of course I understand all of that, selling points, traits, target market, or the other aspects in an anime. But that's not what I'm asking, even though I think I've made my question clear above. I already said that what I wrote has nothing to do with anime, but you're right that the art of the female characters is good, which is why I still enjoyed it.

@mufarari Maybe I misread your question since the way it’s worded makes it seem as if you asked “Do Japanese men really like this” rather than “Do Japanese men actually act like this” aka like Kazuya the MC.

If the latter is what you meant then I can’t say for certain but the show clearly has an audience it’s aiming for and it’s succeeded at doing so. I surely hope there aren’t many people acting like Kazuya irl (or Mami or Ruka for that matter) but there’s bound to be a crowd who against all odds can self-insert themself onto him

In my opinion, depends on the man, he my like this or he may not, too many factors take into account as different people have different personalities and likes/dislikes.

As concept in fiction, many men like these kind off stuff but in real life difficult to say.

ARE CERTAIN PEOPLE LIKE THIS BASED ON ONE SINGLE TV SHOW WHICH'S MAIN FOCUS IS SIMPING?

Can someone confirm my totally non biased opinion based on the worst evidence I can find to judge an entire country?

Japanese men don't act like Kazuya but they do watch the anime because of the waifus.

I kind of get where you’re coming from. I too have been curious about how deep these depictions run. Honestly from all the anime and manga I read, it becomes to repetitive. You see the same set up and same pace.

It’s wild to me that it’s all consistently following the same character types and setting even though authors differ.

My point is, because of that I started to think maybe this reflects something real in the Japanese community. Patterns reveal a lot.

So yeah, maybe you already know the answer to your question. At some point the behavior isn’t coincidental.

Colour me far fetched if you will.
