I imagine it would be hard for people who want to faithfully follow the story of the manga but prefer watching over reading.

The plot was completely adapted in the previous Season.
Here , it's just Slice-Of-Life/Comedy moments.

Watch order would be previous Season > this one , and if you want the true complete story , read the source material , just like absolutely every other Anime.

It's like both Season One and Season Two of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya again.

I think OP meant which order would follow the manga, since this is basically skipped content, we might end up with S01 EP1 > S01 EP2 > Pieces EP1 > S01 EP3 > Pieces EP2 ...

Yes , but no one would follow such thing.
Just think about the previous Season as the story , and this one as extras.

If you want the real order and all , just read the source material.
It's not different from any other Anime , as they absolutely all makes some changes in some ways.

Except one issue, there is no "season one season two" of Haruhi Suzumiya. That's just something fans made up to seem more elitist by watching so called 'true order'. When the reality is they just reaired the entire series with me episodes. It's a remake with additional content at best. People making this myth that it was a second season and not a a remake that aired entirely in chronological order is why it's such a mess to watch. So many guides base their watch order off this belief.

I think it's more like a OAV than a seperate series.

since this season will contain side stories that will fit between the episodes of season 1 as per the story of manga,

the watch order will mix the episodes of Horimiya and Horimiya-Piece for new watchers for a better chronological story experience.

I'd totally follow that order, coz it'd feel like the characters are a little more fleshed out and have more depth to them. And for me watching Horimiya would be better than reading it

how so? it would be ridiculous go so fat as to place each episode in chronological order. we know hori and miyamura get together, rather early on in fact so I don't think it makes any difference going that far. it's basically a sol of the characters with different events, knowing the result of the love story is really all that matters. maybe I'd feel diff if I didn't already know s1 outcome

I would definitely be more interested in a viewing order closer to the manga, I don't know if I care about just watching skipped chapters.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

It's a mess, but it can be done. But because I already went ahead and did this back in the day, so at least it alleviates something out of that nothing.

The rest here too, please follow me thread here:

Honestly why are you all so stressed about the watch order? it's a slice of life anime, you will get the same info regardless in what order you watch. Horimiya doesn't have a specific plot to follow that requires a proper order of understanding.

once in a million years I never seem some certain animes got so overpopular that they decided to make an anime that adapt the missing content that has skip out on the main series.

I don't mind watching Horimiya: The Missing Pieces. I read most of the manga volumes anyway. Seeing these side stories animated is a treat, especially with Kouki Uchiyama's raspy voicing Miyamura.
