Who do you think are the most hated Naruto characters by the fanbase? [Only read if you finished the series]

It’s an agreeable list, but I am surprised Obito is there but Sai isn’t. Sai was just annoying as shit, and gets a ton of dislike for replacing Sasuke I imagine. Karin and Hidan are definitely top 10 territory as well, because we all needed a second woman to simp for Sasuke.

5 - Obito Uchiha

Not surprising to see an Uchiha on the list considering a lot of the big villains were from this clan, though this one might be controversial.

I think most people only have an issue with Obito after his mask comes off, as a lot of people really disliked his obsession with Rin, and he ended up being seen as a worse villain than before which ends up with him being talk no jutsu'd and revealed to be just a pawn for Madara's plans.

4 - Kabuto Yakushi

To me this one seems out of place but some people really seem to dislike this guy, Orochimaru is technically worse but he is seen as a good villain unlike Kabuto who is just seen as a worse version and known as Oro's sidekick.

Some people don't like that he's so smug a lot of the time and that he became one of the biggest villains by the end and is responsible for so much death and destruction and ended up getting rewarded for it instead of punished.

3 - Sasuke Uchiha

This one is probably pretty controversial, well Sasuke himself is a controversial character so it fits.

It's actually impressive that Sasuke is number 3 on the list despite how many fans he has but I feel like he has as many haters, if not more, I cannot think of a rival character in anime who gets more hate really.

The fact that one of the moments Sasuke suffered (when he was beaten and tortured mentally by Itachi in the hotel) was turned into a worldwide meme says it all.

There are multiple reasons why the fanbase hates Sasuke, one is due to his personality (depressing and rude at times) and another reason is the obsession other people have with him, now this one isn't really his fault because he never asks for the attention and in fact dislikes it, but it is definitely a reason people hate on him (and there are many people obsessed with Sasuke throughout the show such as Sakura, Ino + other academy fangirls, Karin, Naruto, Orochimaru, Kabuto, Obito).

Another reason is betrayal, he betrays Team 7 and the village, betrays Orochimaru (not a negative but some people count it), some people think he betrayed Itachi (when you could honestly say it's the other way round), betrays Team Taka somewhat, maybe betrays Akatsuki? (he did say he wasn't really part of them though) etc and people don't like that as he doesn't seem like a trustworthy person.

Murder attempts are another reason, Naruto (his only choices with Naruto are either give up or kill due to Naruto's stubborn nature and he does let him live when he could have killed him at the end of part 1), Sakura (who tbf had the intention to kill him too), Kakashi (same as Sakura), Karin (no excuses here) and if I'm being honest, if some of these attempts were successful, he would be a full blown villain that probably would not be redeemed (in canon he actually has a pretty low kill count for a villain, lower than some "good guys" like Gaara or Kakashi).

Some of his goals after Itachi's death also seemed to be dark, like destroying Konoha which would end so many lives, or killing the sleeping five Kage and the tailed beasts (even if the latter was for a good purpose).

Some people dislike that he changes his mind too often, some dislike that he has so much screen time and focus as if he were the main character, some people dislike that he didn't accept Naruto's talk no jutsu until the end of the story, some people dislike his power ups towards the end or very close escapes from death, some like to think that he didn't actually suffer much compared to other characters (I strongly disagree), some just don't like that he wasn't able to forgive everything like Naruto would presumably do (despite it being more unrealistic), some people claim he is arrogant (though I think it's a mixture of confidence and recklessness which applies to many characters that don't get labelled arrogant), whatever the reason, there are plenty of things that people would dislike about Sasuke.

I spent much more on Sasuke's section than the others but that's because he is the most controversial character so I had to explain him being on here, he still has a massive fanbase though, and he is right next to Sakura, which fits, considering SasuSaku is also THE most hated couple by fans, which is not surprising considering the individual characters themselves are so hated.

Sakura is hated for not having any romantic interest in Naruto the main character and for seeing him as a clown for a while (the punch gags did not help) and also her inability to move on from Sasuke (despite him not really caring about her in Shippuden) which makes some people feel like she never grows as a character.

Top two spots were easily her and Danzo, it was hard to decide which one would be first, because Danzo is considered well written by many whereas Sakura is not, but despite that Sakura still has more fans (due to being a main character) so I will put her as second.

1 - Danzo Shimura

This one is obvious, many of the tragedies that happen and lives that get ruined are due to the actions of this guy which is why people dislike him, but some people also consider him a well written character.

It was hard for me to round up the 5 so I'm not even going to bother to try and do it till 10, so yh who do you guys think are the most hated Naruto characters by the fanbase, do you agree or disagree with me?

Hmm, Sai does get some hate but I don't come across that much, Karin is definitely a contender, I actually thought about putting her there AFTER I had already posted the thread, oh well she's Sakura but with less relevance, so maybe not being relevant enough keeps her out of my list.

Hidan may get some hate for the Asuma thing but he is considered a fun character by many and has many fangirls.

This one is probably pretty controversial, well Sasuke himself is a controversial character so it fits.

It's actually impressive that Sasuke is number 3 on the list despite how many fans he has but I feel like he has as many haters, if not more, I cannot think of a rival character in anime who gets more hate really.

The fact that one of the moments Sasuke suffered (when he was beaten and tortured mentally by Itachi in the hotel) was turned into a worldwide meme says it all.

There are multiple reasons why the fanbase hates Sasuke, one is due to his personality (depressing and rude at times) and another reason is the obsession other people have with him, now this one isn't really his fault because he never asks for the attention and in fact dislikes it, but it is definitely a reason people hate on him (and there are many people obsessed with Sasuke throughout the show such as Sakura, Ino + other academy fangirls, Karin, Naruto, Orochimaru, Kabuto, Obito).

Another reason is betrayal, he betrays Team 7 and the village, betrays Orochimaru (not a negative but some people count it), some people think he betrayed Itachi (when you could honestly say it's the other way round), betrays Team Taka somewhat, maybe betrays Akatsuki? (he did say he wasn't really part of them though) etc and people don't like that as he doesn't seem like a trustworthy person.

Murder attempts are another reason, Naruto (his only choices with Naruto are either give up or kill due to Naruto's stubborn nature and he does let him live when he could have killed him at the end of part 1), Sakura (who tbf had the intention to kill him too), Kakashi (same as Sakura), Karin (no excuses here) and if I'm being honest, if some of these attempts were successful, he would be a full blown villain that probably would not be redeemed (in canon he actually has a pretty low kill count for a villain, lower than some "good guys" like Gaara or Kakashi).

Some of his goals after Itachi's death also seemed to be dark, like destroying Konoha which would end so many lives, or killing the sleeping five Kage and the tailed beasts (even if the latter was for a good purpose).

Some people dislike that he changes his mind too often, some dislike that he has so much screen time and focus as if he were the main character, some people dislike that he didn't accept Naruto's talk no jutsu until the end of the story, some people dislike his power ups towards the end or very close escapes from death, some like to think that he didn't actually suffer much compared to other characters (I strongly disagree), some just don't like that he wasn't able to forgive everything like Naruto would presumably do (despite it being more unrealistic), some people claim he is arrogant (though I think it's a mixture of confidence and recklessness which applies to many characters that don't get labelled arrogant), whatever the reason, there are plenty of things that people would dislike about Sasuke.

I spent much more on Sasuke's section than the others but that's because he is the most controversial character so I had to explain him being on here, he still has a massive fanbase though, and he is right next to Sakura, which fits, considering SasuSaku is also THE most hated couple by fans, which is not surprising considering the individual characters themselves are so hated.

2 - Sakura Haruno

Sakura is hated for not having any romantic interest in Naruto the main character and for seeing him as a clown for a while (the punch gags did not help) and also her inability to move on from Sasuke (despite him not really caring about her in Shippuden) which makes some people feel like she never grows as a character.

Top two spots were easily her and Danzo, it was hard to decide which one would be first, because Danzo is considered well written by many whereas Sakura is not, but despite that Sakura still has more fans (due to being a main character) so I will put her as second.

1 - Danzo Shimura

This one is obvious, many of the tragedies that happen and lives that get ruined are due to the actions of this guy which is why people dislike him, but some people also consider him a well written character.

It was hard for me to round up the 5 so I'm not even going to bother to try and do it till 10, so yh who do you guys think are the most hated Naruto characters by the fanbase, do you agree or disagree with me?

Well as you mentioned that you are only going to choose the relevant characters so your list is really good in that sense

Otherwise I would have definitely picked Sai & Kaguya

However, I would say Obito is still not hated on such a large scale to be considered in this list but that explains why he is at number 5 in this list

And if only you had shuffled Sakura and Danzo's rank then it would have been perfect

Well, Sakura is a Main Character and Ino isn't.

Kishimoto handled Sakura pretty bad for a Main Character and Ino pretty good for a side character.

If we compare them that is.

But the hate stems from a couple of points like how she treated Naruto in the OG anime, her obsession towards Sasuke, how she lied to Naruto in Shippuden, how poorly written she is (for a MC) and (atleast partly) because it's a meme and bandwagon.

In Part 1 Ino was more useful than Sakura who could do almost nothing (at least Ino had her mind ability), though tbf to Sakura, she doesn't come from a ninja family.

In Shippuden, Sakura was more useful though Ino was pretty good during the war.

Regardless, Sakura is a main character unlike Ino so she gets more criticism.

I honestly hate Orochimaru more than anyone, simply because he survived in Boruto and he was a villian that was power hungry and seeked immortality, while all other villians who were broken like Pain, Madara, Itachi etc. died. Like it would be a dream come true if i could see Itachi in Boruto being a family man and uncle with Sarada, but that's off the point, Orochimaru should've just died, it really pisses me off seeing him still alive in Boruto

4 - Kabuto Yakushi

To me this one seems out of place but some people really seem to dislike this guy, Orochimaru is technically worse but he is seen as a good villain unlike Kabuto who is just seen as a worse version and known as Oro's sidekick.

Some people don't like that he's so smug a lot of the time and that he became one of the biggest villains by the end and is responsible for so much death and destruction and ended up getting rewarded for it instead of punished.

I don’t know if I’d consider him in the most hated list but there’s plenty of people who thought his edgelord persona was annoying as hell. I understand the reason for why he was but I still found him annoying lol

I feel like Obito is really misunderstood by a lot of people. All of his haters think he did everything just cuz his childhood crush died but that's just incorrect. Rin dying was more like an eye opener to him as to how cruel the shinobi world was. That was what made him realize it would be better for everyone if they were all in the infinite tsukoyomi. He did everything for the infinite tsukoyomi because it would've been better that way. And it would have ended the cycle of hatred that cursed the Naruto world.

Sai was annoying at first but he got great character development after the reunion arc and opens up with his feelings. But literally everyone in the ninja academy simped for sasuke (idk about tenten ) but even temari said sasuke was cute the first time she met him

If it weren't for Ino using mind transfer on obito the entire shinobi forces would have been wiped out from the 10 tails blast. Sure she is kinda comparable to sakura since they literally simped for him since childhood. And they both tied for a lame chunin exam fight but ino low key is kinda better written than sakura. Sakura's main thing since the beginning of naruto was she heals, simps for sasuke, mean to naruto, sakura's back story is literally wanting to stop being useless to her team. I admit her healing is very useful, but at the same time her healing ninjutsu isn't THAT much better than other medical ninjas. I mean kabuto can heal people without even touching rhem. My point is that ino isn't that bad either.
