Any chance of a modern anime adaptation?

I remember watching the OVA series a few years ago and enjoying it... but I can't imagine that those 4 episodes cover anywhere close to the 40 volume epic that it's based on.

I'm curious to find out more about this series, but due to it's length and age... it's obviously very hard to find. I think a new anime series would help to boost interest in the franchise. I've noticed that it has mutiple sequels too, one of which has been ongoing since 2016, so people must be reading it.

So is there any chance of this series getting a modern anime adaptation? Or is this just another manga epic lost to time...?

im surprised ppl even know about this manga lol. its 'known' a bit in my country just bc its very very hard to find
i dont think it will, btw. dont even know if it got an eng release

This is literally one of the most popular manga in history but it will never get a TV release. They wanted to do it in the mid/late 2000s, when Japan lightened their censorship laws, but it still didn't pass censorship laws. . . Japan will never lighten their censorship laws enough for this to ever get a proper adaptation. GunNM is in the exact same boat. One of the most popular manga ever, and it's been ongoing since 1990, but will never get a TV release due to censorship laws.

Edit: Ironically enough Dark Horse owns the rights for both the 3x3 Eyes manga AND GunNM, but they stopped 3x3 Eyes in 2004 after only 8 volumes while they're still publishing GunNM.

Anything is possible to get an anime adaptation at this point.
