I've heard it mostly doesn't matter, but I only recently got the game. I have not started it yet, but I was wondering what would be the better experience? I've heard the series takes place before the video game, and that a character you meet in 2077 shows up in Edgerunners. I've seen good arguments from both sides, either playing/watching in order of release or playing/watching chronologically. I'm always indecisive when it comes to prequels so I thought I would ask.

i think it's better to play the game first, cause it's explaining the world better, for example game is explaining things like braindanse, which anime is not doing, assuming that you already played the game and you know it

I played the game before, and yes, it helps a lot to identify places and the general surroundings that you see in the anime, however the anime itself explains them in a really good way so unless you really want to put the hours into the game before watching the anime go ahead. But if you don't there's really no problem neither of them have spoilers of the other

It's not the end of the world if you don't play it. Playing it will make you more familiar with the world and a few of character cameos. One thing that's pretty neat is how faithful it is to the game in regards to its world. you can literally find a bunch of the locations in the show in the game world

If you have a copy, you could play it to the point where the prologue ends then watch after that if you don't wanna sink the time into it

It doesn't really matter. You can watch the anime series first to get into it and then play the game.

Haven’t played the game and loved it so I’d say it’s still amazing without playing the game. It should be fine either way but I watched it first

definitely play the game before! I'm a huge fan of the game and i loved the show, but even tho the plots are separate and you wont get any spoiler from the show I'd recommend playing the game before because if you do so when watching the show you already know a lot of night city and how work, relationships, business ecc. goes and you will enjoy the show more :)

I never played the game even though I heard a lot about. Mostly out of scandals, backlashes and controversies. When I heard it was getting an anime on Netflix I was intrigued. It finally came out and I watched. I really liked it even though I never played the game. I also had no idea it was supposed to be a prequel set 1 year before the events of the game. Perhaps I should download it on my laptop to play it someday or maybe just forget about it. I still liked the anime nonetheless.

First the game. On PC ideally.
It will feel great to recognize sounds, powers, guns, certain characters and places.

That said, playing the game second probably has its own charm since the anime is technically a prequel.

for me personally, i only enjoyed the show as much as i did, because i had played the game prior to watching the show. although, i wouldn't recommend dragging yourself through the game just to be able to watch the show. just do whatever you feel like

play it before watching maybe it will be more enjoyable because as someone who didn't play the game it didn't really entertain

“Its a prequel so watch the anime firstπŸ’€” y’all are dumb af lol.
The end mission can be a spoiler to the anime in a certain way, but i think if you dont know anything about the cyberpunk world, playing a couple hours first can make a better experience.
