For sure it’s bittersweet but I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. It was a solid and powerful ending to the story and for our characters. There is no reason to complain or be dissatisfied really.

Yeah If u think about it, it is quite sad but it’s not just pure sadness it’s simply bittersweet feelings that we’re left with and I honestly believe that’s okay. I liked the fact that we actually experienced a lot of death since these types of shows typically try to preserve the lives of everyone at the end. Guren Lagann remains surprisingly realistic in a lot of ways aside from the robot spiral energy stuff.

Yeah sometimes they dial stuff up to 11 but everything they show is realistic to human life, in terms of the people, their emotions, and the way they respond to their experiences.

Put
at the end and
at the beginning.

I've been thinking about this so I have more ideas.

But curious to hear yours. If you feel like it of course.

I feel that Yoko got very poor treatment by the writer's. She always seemed to get sidelined or feel underwritten compared to the men. To be as spoiler free as possible, there's a scene where she springs into action and it's meant to be treated as a climatic moment, but to do so she rips her shirt off and we get a closeup of her boob's jiggling. I actually lol'ed so hard in my seat while watching it that I woke someone up.

No reply, sadface.

I’ll give the rough outline of my conclusion. Simon heeds Kamina’s call to be the pioneer, the trailblazer, the outsider, the outcast. There’s a role for the man who confronts the truth, and that role requires you to be an outsider (remember how Kamina clashes with Magin because Kamina cannot stand living outside of the truth but Magin knows it will destroy society, and society needs to be fed small lies to keep stable; Rossiu understands this as well).

It’s the same for Yoko and Leeron. They have skills and personalities that match the status of the ‘outsider’. The imagery of settling down in peaceful married life would be a sharp discord/contrast with the theme of being a social outcast. It wouldn’t fit.
