Why am I enjoying this so much?

This seems like your big standard isekai. You have a basic story, basic but entertaining characters, and humor is not hilarious but not bad ether. However, for some reason I really like this show despite the fact that it doesn’t do anything groundbreaking. Am I the only one here?

I think its the humor because honestly I’m enjoying it too, but don’t understand why either

Nope , i wasnt expecting much , expected myself to drop it and indeed its normal and basic but i am enjoying it , a lot infact and with every ep , it gets harder to wait for next ep , its nothing special and yet surprisingly interesting amd enjoyable

Read the LN, was just decently enjoyable. But when watching the anime actually really enjoying it, the humor and voice acting (Arc’s VA, Tomoaki Meno especially) really makes the Anime enjoyable.

(Also the extra Ecchi scenes :) )

I just wanted a trashy fun isekai for this season. It's a sorta tradition of mine. The first episode was fine, I thought I'll drop it after a couple more, like I usually do with trash isekai. Then, it started picking up. The writing is really good and all the characters are likeble. (I WILL PROTECT PONTA WITH MY LIFE)

I would say cause it basic structure is like an old fantasy type instead of the current mainstream.

The author put a lot into the world building and the director improve on that (there some changes some good some bad to fit in the anime episode time).

Character like Arc feel relatable, he OP cause of his stat, but he still a gamer not suddenly the best warrior in the world, he just a gamer playing an MMO like WoW and get isekaied so he have no battle instinct like at all.

Arianne doesn't become a decoration in Arc journey like a lot of other show, Author giving her character development.

The event flow mostly logical

It’s a blast following an MC who is himself just having a blast too. Its infectious. And that is one gd cute ass fox. The show itself has gap moe charm too cuz on the one hand it plays like one of the sillier isekai but underlying that is a pretty coherent and compelling fantasy narrative replete with competent political intrigue and non-arbitrary worldbuilding. It’s smarter than it looks.

Also that is one of the hottest anime elves I’ve ever seen.

ISEKAI ARE NOT BAD !!!

So much hate for one of the best genres in anime, I just don’t get it at all.

I really like the anime isekai genre, so mnu different and unique shows!!

And this show is really enjoyable and fun!

Like many Isekai, which I like.

Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

I can relate, and i also don't really know why i enjoy this so much, but what contributes to that is definetly the good voice acting, and probably the wholesome and cheerful attitude of the MC that gives us a break from your tipical nerdy/edgy/ex-neet overpowered main character of most isekais, and while those are not bad (in some cases) they do become boring after watching a few shows that all have the same MC but with different name and hair color.

Personally I find Isekai more enjoyable when going in to it with low expectations, since lets be real, Isekai is a mediocre genre. It's usually a pleasant surprise when a show turns out to be decent.

Even the "good" Isekais suffer from these issues.

Because it's a good show. Arc's a likable protagonist. He's OP but he's using his powers to help others because he's a naturally good person.

Overlord is good don't get me wrong, but it gets a bit bleak and depressing when you constantly see Lord Ainz portraying the evil overlord and committing cruel acts in the name of such.

It's nice to see a protagonist doing the inverse here. It's like getting Overlord but without all the bleak nihilism.

It's a bit unbreaking imo, MC is OP but stupid and there's someone on way higher league than him, have cute mythology being as partner or pet, only has a female partner at least yet (that female ninja might joined soon though).

In my opinion, it does what an iseaki needs to do to not just crash on the runway, but then, as I was talking with my friends, it has the edge of something like goblin slayer, but none of the grit.

You know Arc is going to save the day, but in that moment of peril, the danger seems real. Not to mention the characters are enjoyable, the animation rock solid, and dare I say, the dub out right hilarious if you choose to watch it

I'm the opposite, it feels like the show was supposed to be serious. But the MC and other things ruin it. I mean most, will like the show for what you mentioned. For me however I wanted it to lean more towards a solemn atmosphere. I mean sad, serious, dramatic any of those would have worked. Heck I'd even settle for a little romance, but I only got some superficial jealousy and irrelevant flirtation, which lead nowhere.

I agree, it's quite basic, but still fun. I'd say there's nothing that stands out, but it also has no really bad episode. Just a solid isekai show.
