How would a movie from 2005 spoil a game from 2020?

Yeah since it takes place after the end of the original.

A 2020 game that is a remake of a 1997 game.

A remake that goes in a completely different plot direction from the original and therefore has absolutely nothing to do with the movie.

It will spoil the ending of the original game, however the remake is going to a whole new directoion and changing everything in the story so you can consider it a alternative timeline (which it is)

It does spoil it. Haha DO NOT WATCH IT. You have to have played the original game for it to not spoil you. It is a very good movie in my opinion and is a must watch but do not watch untill you play the og game or when the remakes will finish which who knows when.

This question kind of has a complicated answer, basically FF7 Remake is not really a remake contrary to what its title might have you believe. FF7 Remake appears to be set in an alternate timeline where the events of the first game are being altered by some sort of outside interference from a dimension where the events of all the previous FF7 games and the movie have already happened, and the story consequently begins to veer off into a different path by the end of the game. I think the sequel games to FF7 Remake are going to be very different from the original game's story. So technically I don't think FF7 Advent Children will spoil the Remake series but it will probably spoil the original game for you. I'd highly recommend playing the original game if you're able to.

it never directly tells you what happens but it does take place after it, honestly the remake might end different but it's a retelling this like spoiling starwars episode 5. is it really spoiling when this much time has passed? honestly it doesn't matter the game will take 2 hours of story telling and the movie will mention 1 off note moment of it vaguely. Go ahead and enjoy the movie.

FFVII Remake Trilogy Director did confirm that Advent Children will stay canon, like other side stories like novels or games.
