So I've heard the light novel was way better than the anime and that the anime left off some content so I was wondering if I should start reading the light novel from the beginning or should I start it where the anime left off? What are your thought?

Anime > LN. But if you don’t want to wait for S3 go ahead

I mean I would but u don't have to the anime does a pretty solid job adapting it but they definitely left some stuff out especially in Arc 4 (season 2)

ill start from the beginning just so I can remember what happened cause it's been a while since the last season dropped but I might pick it up at arc 4 since you said that's where they missed content but we'll see lol

Well animation, VA, sound effects, music all are better to me than just reading something. ESPECIALLY Subaru’s VA. I just enjoy that more than reading a LN, but to each their own.

Subaru's VA is insane so I have to agree with you, but I keep hearing so much about the light novels that I am dying to find out what happens so even though I don't like reading im down to read the light novel.

Well go for it if you’re really interested. For me I tend to not read stuff because I want to be wowed by the anime. But as things are rn we have no clue when S3 will come out. So if you don’t want to wait, go for it.

Id say start reading it from arc 3 and continue from there cause before then id say arc 1 and 2 were pretty accurately adapted other than a couple cut content and different emotions. Arc 3 and onward tho got a lot of watered down moments in the royal election that characterize the candidates alot more and a good chunk of other stuff

Just find differences between ln and anime and continue where anime ended. No point boring yourself to death reading something you have already seen week ago.

Considering how well-written it is, yes. Even leaving aside the cut content, the anime doesn't have all of Subaru's monologues and reaction to events, stuff which makes him an even more interesting character.

The LN is the true way this series was meant to be consumed.

Re:Zero works best when it’s on book format.
The LN is just a lot better than the anime in pretty much every way.
So I recommend reading from the beginning because that’s what I did.

It's usually better to read the original LN from the beginning, the same goes for Re:Zero.

Also it's a masterpiece worth reading.

Don’t read the light novel, wait for season 3. The next arc is a lot more combat focused, so it’ll be more enjoyable in anime format.

Personally, I found most of the combat in arc 5 too slow for a written medium and with too much switching perspectives to keep the momentum.

I was in the same situation as you, and I just started from the beginning, which I would recommend. Frankly, the light novel is not "way better", but it is definitely better, and clears up misunderstandings and fills holes in the anime. There was a surprisingly low amount of cut content in the anime, it was actually a rather good adaptation. But that cut content and extra details is worth reading from the beginning of the series if you care about it as much as I do. I'm not sure if you are aware, but among the cut content is important info regarding Al. That's just one example. Another would be the Rem scene at the Flugel tree. A bard named Liliana was mentioned in LN 10, and I have no idea if she will come up again or not (I would guess so, since she has a name).

I'm seeing some people saying the anime was better, but the LN gives you a peek into other character's heads, mostly Subaru's. In the scene where (S2P2 spoiler) Subaru is being swallowed by Satella's shadow, I was completely unaware that he we being "blended" with the other people and things that had fallen prey to it, and that was how he obtained some other people's memories. I was unaware of that when watching the anime.

all in all, start from the beginning if you care about details and cut content and a more clear picture on other characters and Subaru himself. If you only care about continuing the story into Season 3's content, start where S2P2 left off.
